Location is lovely and walks on public footpaths right on your doorstep, but sadly no view from the back garden due to high wall, and a noisy pump of some kind spoiled potential ambience there. Parking is very tight. The kitchen is a nice light space, but the dining table area needed lights on all day to see. Fire is coal, not wood. Cute little dogRead more bed area under the stairs which our dog loved immediately. Hide

The cottage was clean and the kitchen well equipped. However we were disappointed with the garden (stone patio) it was mostly taken up with patio furniture, air source heat pump and plant pots (mostly with artificial flowers etc.), not really dog friendly as the space was limited. There was only parking for one car, as access was required throughRead more the farm gate situated at the side if the cottage. Our biggest disappointment with the cottage was that the absence of the public footpath to Cartmel, it seemed that the access to the path was over a narrow stone stile, but there was no evidence of a path at all. My husband met a farmer in the adjoining field who pointed to the next stile, but there wasn't any evidence of a path there either, although there were cows with calves in the field next to the cottage and had there been a footpath it wouldn't have been safe to walk in it as cows can be aggressive if they have young.. It wasn't feasible to walk along the roads to Cartmel either, as these are very narrow not really safe for pedestrians. We couldn't find accommodation in Cartmel for the dates we wanted and this cottage seemed to be as good, but the location was really disappointing. Hide

We had a lovely time. A bottle of wine, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. What a welcome. The cottage was immaculate. Bed was amazing, extremely comfortable. Marcus who came to clean as we were leaving was very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of tips for the area. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Thank you. Carol Jones.

Lovely stay in the cottage. Really great to have an enclosed yard for the dogs. Only a few minutes drive to Cartmel with all it offers which was great.
