Up to five guests can stay in this traditional and characterful 18th-century Cumbrian cottage with a wood burner, garden and countryside views. Set in the Lake District National Park, you can spend your time away exploring the surrounding quaint villages and towns, lakes and mountain trails.
Step straight into the welcoming lounge with a wooden beamed ceiling and an eye-catching inglenook fireplace with a warming wood burner. This neutral-toned space offers ample seating on the floral sofa and armchairs positioned around the Smart TV. Continue into the bright, contemporary kitchen with a fitted unit and pretty tiles. After cooking a hearty meal for your loved ones, gather around the table in the separate charming dining room with antique-style furnishings and a five-seater table. Climb the cottage-style stairs to reach a chic family bathroom with a shower over the bath and three bedrooms – an en-suite king-size, a double and a twin room. Outside, a set of stone steps lead to the enclosed lawned garden. There is private parking for two cars.
While you are based in the small riverside village of Braithwaite, make sure you check out the local pub and a cute village shop and tea room (both within 0.5 miles). You’ll be almost equidistant from both Bassenthwaite Lake (2.5 miles) and Derwentwater Lake (3 miles) – both have picturesque walking trails around the water with viewpoint stops. Head to Lodore Falls (6 miles) and challenge yourself to an uphill hike past Maiden Moor (4.5 miles) and High Spy to Dale Head mountain peak, which sits at 753 metres above sea level.
