Located in the pretty village of Bowness-on-Solway, best known as the western end of Hadrian’s Wall, this property is close to country pubs and cafes, and on a clear day, enjoys views across to Scotland. Just 15 miles from the border city of Carlisle, with its cathedral, museum and castle, this property is the ideal base to explore the Cumbrian coast, Scotland and the Lake District National Park. There are lots of bike routes and walks from your front door and plenty to do in the local area. Visit the Solway Aviation Museum (22.5 miles) or, for something much closer, head to the west of the village where you will find Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve and Wetlands Centre (2 miles) – here you can enjoy the spectacular local wildlife. Why not take a train from Carlisle which has a regular service to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle? The famous Scottish town of Gretna Green is just 22 miles away, where you can visit the wedding anvil or enjoy a day shopping at the outlet village.

This unique farmhouse occupies the grounds of the second-largest fort on Hadrian's Wall. Offering three bedrooms, it is an ideal haven for families seeking a tranquil retreat. Upon entering, the hallway with its traditional wooden arch sets a welcoming tone. The adjacent sitting room features a leather sofa and a cosy wood burner, providing the perfect spot for evening relaxation with a good book. The dining room, adorned with wooden beams and an electric wood burner-effect fire, offers a charming setting for meals with loved ones. The utility room conveniently located on the ground floor is ideal for washing muddy clothes. The well-appointed kitchen is to the rear of the property and has everything you need to rustle up a hearty breakfast or an evening meal for your party. Ascend the wide staircase to discover two double bedrooms, one with a Velux window and sloped ceilings. Both rooms offer a delightful retreat before a restful night's sleep. The third bedroom, a king-size, has an en-suite shower room. There is a spacious family bathroom on the first floor with a bath allowing you to relax after a long day exploring.

To the front of the cottage lies a small patio, providing a peaceful spot to relax on the bench and enjoy a morning coffee or simply watch the world go by.
