Set in the quaint village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District, this inviting cottage makes the perfect base for a family getaway. Its prime location means that guests are never far from the National Park’s best destinations, such as the popular town of Windermere and its vast lake (9 miles), where guests can spend the day before returning for an evening spent in the cosy confines of their rural cottage.

The cottage makes for a relaxing home from home and has everything you need for a comfy stay. After a day on the fells, relax on the inviting sofas in the stylish lounge/diner with your favourite film playing on the Smart TV, as the chef prepares a family feast in the well-equipped kitchen next door. After enjoying the chef’s work at the dining table, head upstairs for a well-deserved night’s sleep in the two bedrooms that await; a cosy double with its own Smart TV and an airy twin bedroom. Completing the interior is a well-appointed family bathroom where you can relax in the bathtub after a day on your feet. Through the back door in the kitchen, guests will find the outside space, a pretty, decked courtyard with outside furniture, the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or al fresco dinner.

Head to Grasmere’s lake (0.5 miles), one of the smaller lakes in the region, to enjoy scenic adventures on foot or bike along the water’s edge. For some quintessential Lake District towns, catch a bus that stops opposite the cottage and head to the market town of Ambleside (4.5 miles), or visit one of the region’s most popular towns, Keswick (12.5 miles). In Keswick, guests can amble through the streets, busy with walking supplies shops, local pubs and restaurants, as well as find the starting point to many of the area’s most scenic walking trails.

A wonderful place for a holiday in the Lakes - brilliant to have parking in Grasmere, and the house had everything we needed. We were able to walk straight from the front door on three occasions.

Overall a very well equipped holiday home. In great location in both Grasmere and in terms of proximity to Ambleside and Bowness. Some lovely walks from the village and a great bus service.

Light, bright, clean and comfortable. Great central location. The cottage details on the website could specify the provision of a CD player just for completeness.

Cottage as always very comfortable. Very well equipped and we appreciated all the improvements that the owner has made. Buses from the door to Keswick or Windermere and lots of local walks. No need to use the car during the week.

Could not be better situated in the very centre of Grasmere. Coop is nearby and staff are happy and welcoming. Make use of the bus service which is 50m away. Great connections for Windermere and Keswick. Plan a walk between the bus stops, Suggest Grasmere to Rydal - bus back. The cottage is very well equipped. We always take a grab bag of thRead moreings that are sometimes missing. Didn't take it out of the car. Clean, well equipped, comfortable and warm (we visited in December). Lovely Hide

This is definitely a don't judge a book by the cover property. It is not picturesque but step inside and it has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Decor was fresh and pleasing, kitchen very well equipped, beds were really comfortable as were the chairs. It's situated in a very quiet culture de sac, a couple of minutes from a bus stop Read morewhich has an excellent service. On top of all this there a great range of walks you can do from the door. I recommend Alcock Tarn, a tough climb (in fact I would go up and down the same way going past Dove Cottage, the other route is horrible!). As an added bonus you'll be about 2 minutes from the Grasmere Gingerbread shop! We thought it the ideal property for us and wouldn't hesitate to return. Hide

The cottage is very comfortable, spotlessly clean, very well equipped and conveniently situated in the centre Grasmere but in a quiet spot. Having a parking space is a real bonus. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs within a very short distance of the cottage and there is a co-op shop which has a cash machine. There is a regular bus seRead morervice within a few minutes walk. Highly recommended. Hide
