Set in the quaint village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District, this inviting cottage makes the perfect base for a family getaway. Its prime location means that guests are never far from the National Park’s best destinations, such as the popular town of Windermere and its vast lake (9 miles), where guests can spend the day before returning for an evening spent in the cosy confines of their rural cottage.

The cottage makes for a relaxing home from home and has everything you need for a comfy stay. After a day on the fells, relax on the inviting sofas in the stylish lounge/diner with your favourite film playing on the Smart TV, as the chef prepares a family feast in the well-equipped kitchen next door. After enjoying the chef’s work at the dining table, head upstairs for a well-deserved night’s sleep in the two bedrooms that await; a cosy double with its own Smart TV and an airy twin bedroom. Completing the interior is a well-appointed family bathroom where you can relax in the bathtub after a day on your feet. Through the back door in the kitchen, guests will find the outside space, a pretty, decked courtyard with outside furniture, the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or al fresco dinner.

Head to Grasmere’s lake (0.5 miles), one of the smaller lakes in the region, to enjoy scenic adventures on foot or bike along the water’s edge. For some quintessential Lake District towns, catch a bus that stops opposite the cottage and head to the market town of Ambleside (4.5 miles), or visit one of the region’s most popular towns, Keswick (12.5 miles). In Keswick, guests can amble through the streets, busy with walking supplies shops, local pubs and restaurants, as well as find the starting point to many of the area’s most scenic walking trails.

This little house couldn't be better placed for a holiday base in Grasmere, it's right in the centre of the village. Inside it is well laid out with all the facilities you would expect, and far more storage space in the cupboards and wardrobes than we were expecting! We had no issues at all with Mews Cottage and are already planning to stay there aRead moregain when we return to the Lakes. Hide

This is a clean and comfortable self catering property in the centre of Grasmere. We did not need to use our car at all since there are ample walks from the front door and a convenient bus service to Keswick and Ambleside. There are several excellent places for dinner in the village and even more for lunch and tea. The nearby Co-op provided all we Read moreneeded for pic nics and self catering. I think the accommodation would be improved with some more information about walks and food options. Hide

Mews Cottage is tucked away in a small private pend area within the centre of Grasmere. The private parking space across from the front door is a huge bonus and there are so many good walks from Grasmere that you could leave the car and either walk or take the bus to the other towns in the area, the bus stop being close by. Lots of nice cafes and rRead moreestaurants, galleries and shops to enjoy. The cottage is comfortable, warm and well appointed with all that you would need for a week or more stay and has a little garden sun trap patio at the back, which was very pleasant to sit in and enjoy a morning coffee. The bedrooms were comfortable with ample storage and hanging space/coat hangers and the exceptionally clean bathroom had plenty of hot water for a bath or shower (electric shower) for the three people staying. Mews Cottage would make for a very comfortable stay for a small family or a couple holidaying in the area. The next door neighbours were friendly and happy to pass the time of day and we enjoyed watching the sparrows who nest in the shrubs at the front door. Happy to recommend Mews Cottage with its excellent central location. Hide
