Transport lovers can hop on the steam train at Haverthwaithe (1 mile) to visit Lake Windermere in style, and visit the Lakeland Motor Museum just outside the village (0.5 miles). Lake Windermere offers a multitude of water-based activities from heritage steamboat rides to sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing. The region is filled with stunning walking and cycling trails, including Grizedale Forest (11.5 miles). Beatrix Potter fans can visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere (9 miles) and the author’s home, Hill Top (10.5 miles).
