Set in the picturesque Lakeland village of Hawkshead, this impressive family home is built into a hillside with extensive views over the surrounding fells. Located just north of Esthwaite Water, the village is steeped in history with a 15th-century church and a school once attended by the poet William Wordsworth. With a multitude of attractions and activities all around and flexible accommodation for up to eight guests, it’s ideal for family gatherings and holidays with friends.

Light and airy throughout, this spacious family home has been lovingly renovated with stylish decor and superb attention to detail to create a warm and sophisticated home from home. Located on the first floor with far-reaching views, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner forms the heart of this property. This sociable room features a modern fitted kitchen, a large family dining table, and a light-filled lounge with dual aspect windows and a corner sofa big enough to seat everybody. When night falls, take your pick of comfortable bedrooms. There’s a twin zip-and-link on the ground floor (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request), with an en-suite shower room. Another twin zip-and-link, a king-size and a double can be found on the first floor. All bedrooms are fitted with a Smart TV. A family shower room is also on this floor. Challenge your travelling companions to a game of darts or pool in the garage, which can also be used for storage, and clamber up the steep lawn to the small patio to enjoy a cuppa while drinking in those views (please note the garden isn’t suitable for playing games).

Wrapped in magnificent Lakeland scenery, Hawkshead is perfect for those that love outdoors activities, with an abundance of walking and cycling trails, and water-based activities at Windermere and Coniston (within 5 miles). Beatrix Potter’s former home, Hill Top, is just 2.5 miles away.

Amaley is a lovely modern comfortable home which has the advantage of having a lovely rural view over fields but is also very close to Hawkshead. We were able to stroll into Hawkshead for an evening meal on a couple of nights. The property is tastefully furnished and extremely well equipped. We slept soundly as the beds were very comfortable and Read morethe area peaceful and quiet. We were able to enjoy several wonderful walks in the area and would be happy to recommend this house to anyone thinking of holidaying in the area. Hide

My family and l had a lovely holiday in an attractive well equipped spacious home with panoramic views from the lounge area of the open plan kitchen, dining and comfortable corner sofa . An immaculate modern house in a beautiful location close to both Windermere and Coniston Lakes. We were extremely lucky with the weather. But with a TV in each beRead moredroom, and in the lounge area, a games room and books and cards and a few board games provided we would have kept entertained . Hide

Well located. Quiet location with lovely views. Ample parking. Clean. Comfortable. Guests have no control over the heating (the control box is locked) which was switched off during our stay during an unseasonably cold week. Garden is not suitable for anyone with children. Overpriced compared to similar properties in the area.

Super comfortable cottage that was very well equipped for the 6 of us. We particularly enjoyed the view, the sheep and the pool and darts. It was easy to wander into Hawkshead and out for some good walks.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Quiet position, with good views. The blockage of the upstairs toilet Did not help though, the bedding was too hot for the weather, and better instructions would have been better for the car electricity. However, we are considering a return
