An impressive rural retreat for families and friends, boasting period features and roaring wood burners. This semi-detached farmhouse provides spacious, elegant and tastefully furnished accomodation, making it a brilliant base for exploring the magical stretches of the Lake District.

This sophisticated farmhouse features two roomy lounges so the whole party can spread out or gather in style. Bag the nearest seat to the fireplace to warm your toes after exploring every corner of the striking Lake District. The dining room is particularly grand, offering a generous oval table with a backdrop of leafy views from the manicured garden. This is a fantastic spot to read, play games or gather everyone for a celebratory meal with plenty of dishes to share. A classic farmhouse-style kitchen is a brilliant place to cook, thanks to its AGA range cooker and further dining table for added company while you stir. Settle in one of five gorgeous bedrooms on the first floor: an elegant king-size four-poster bed with a dressing room, en-suite and a small double sofa bed, a king-size, a super-king-size and two handsome doubles. Finishing off the home is a range of washing facilities, allowing everyone to skip the queues! In the morning, sip your coffee in the well-enclosed garden or enjoy an alfresco breakfast with the sun beaming above.

Staveley is nearby (1 mile). Nestled at the foot of the Kentmere Valley, this pretty village boasts rolling countryside with valleys, woods and many walking and cycle routes. Five miles away, Bowness-on-Windemere offers the docking station to cruise along Lake Windermere, where guests are sure to drink in miles upon miles of stunning scenery. If you prefer watersports, you're in the perfect location, with canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to hire, and motorboats if you care to pick up the pace. You'll also find many eateries here, too.

One of the best accommodations we have stayed in. Beautiful house, very well equipped. Views were cracking an a great location for the lakes. We would definitely book again

Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful setting and good location to travel into Windermere and Kendal. Due to time of year did not try local walks but I am sure they would be good.
