One of a group of charming properties set on a working farm near the delightful Cumbria village of Milton, this stylish retreat offers relaxing accommodation for up to four guests. Close to the border with Northumberland, the single-level cottage has a lovely wood burner, high ceilings, wooden beams and stable-style doors, with access to a shared hot tub and summer house. An ideal hideaway for history buffs, nature lovers and walkers, this airy getaway sits within easy reach of the North Pennines and the route of Hadrian’s Wall.

Entering the cottage, the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has a high beamed ceiling and makes a fantastic space for you to settle back and relax. Over by the windows, the cheerful lounge has comfortable seating, a welcoming wood burner and a TV, perfect for snuggling up in the evening to watch a film or catch up with a good book. There’s a charming dining area to the side, opposite a fully equipped kitchen. Exploring this single-level retreat further, you will find a refreshing bathroom and two delightful bedrooms: a cheery double and a snug twin. Outside, the large lawn, cute summer house and bubbling hot tub are shared with the other properties onsite and make an ideal spot for unwinding in at the end of a wonderful day.

To the north, you can explore the remains of Hadrian’s Wall (5 miles), while birdwatchers can head east to RSPB Geltsdale to spot curlews, grouse and owls. Brampton (2 miles) is to the west, with some friendly places to eat and drink. Other local attractions include Birdoswald Roman Fort, the Roman Army Museum, Solway Aviation Museum and Talkin Tarn Country Park, all within 10 miles. The North Pennines (2 miles) and Northumberland National Park (10 miles) are within easy reach, offering miles of breathtaking walks.
