Take your friends, family and four-legged companion to this attractive holiday home in the Lake District’s Chapel Stile. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom retreat sits in immaculate, lawned gardens and offers generous accommodation. Situated almost 5 miles from Ambleside, it is well positioned for the many outdoor opportunities of Lake Windermere, as well as the National Trust’s Tarn Hows, 6 miles away, and Coniston Water.

Pull off your wellies or walking boots in the porch and head into the capacious lounge/kitchen/diner. This airy, light space has ample room for everyone to spread out after your many adventures. Sit back on the soft seating in the lounge to watch TV or listen to music. Whip up delicious home-cooked meals in the kitchen with the Cumbrian produce you have found on your trips out; enjoy lively meals together at the table. There is also a family shower room and a useful utility room downstairs. Make your way up to the first floor at the end of each fabulous day away to enjoy a relaxing night’s sleep in either of the two king-size bedrooms, the twin or the bunk room. One of the king-size rooms has an en-suite shower room and the twin has single beds that are longer than normal. There is also a family bathroom up here. Spill out into the sunshine of the lovely leafy garden to play games with the children or chat over a bottle of wine. Light the BBQ on warm summer evenings and sit out under the stars.

Step straight out from the cottage to enjoy long walks and cycle rides. Discover the Langdale Valley and the Langdale Peaks and climb Loughrigg Fell, 2 miles away. Venture 5 miles to Waterhead to hire boats to take out on Windermere or to explore the lake on an organised cruise.

Lovely, spacious property. Well equipped kitchen and smart bathrooms. Very cosy all round in a delightful village so near to other parts within the Lake District and walks, pub and shop on the doorstep.

A modern, well equipped cottage with ample space for 5 adults and 3 children and a secure garden for the dog. It is in a great situation in the centre of the village in one of the loveliest valleys in the Lake District with plenty of walks from the door.

A wonderful house and cottage, we have stayed in both and this time had both together for a family get together, there is a connecting door.. Great shop opposite which sells anything you have forgotten or might need, staffed by very friendly local people. A lovely, modern, comfortable and spacious property in a terrific location. Everything we expected / hoped / needed to be available - just was! The large garden on 3 sides of the house is a huge bonus. Lots of sunshine, and a paradise for our young red fox Labrador.

This is our 3rd year going to Oakdene. Very comfy, ideal position for local shop, bus stop, pubs and lovely walks. We will definitely be back next year.

We have just spent week at Oakdene House, a party of five adults, two small babies and two dogs. The house is delightful, incredibly comfortable and well equipped, particularly the kitchen. The fenced in garden was a bonus with two dogs and the outside hose and shower ideal for rinsing them off after walks. The house is conveniently situated in ChaRead morepel Stile and accessible with pushchairs. Weather was mixed, as expected, but we enjoyed many walks along the valley in both directions. The paths are accessible with pushchairs and we found plenty to do without needing to use cars. The electric charging point was also appreciated. We would definitely book Oakdene House again. Hide

This is the perfect pet friendly property for a large family stay. The layout of the house, garden and driveway was spot on with excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities - could have stayed forever if only!

this property is in a prime spot, however make sure you close the gates and secure with a stone as the sheep are rather cheeky and head butt the gates until they open. One negative was cars parking opposite the gates making it rather difficult getting out.
