Perched on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, this beautifully appointed lodge invites you to get back to nature. Set against the backdrop of the rugged Skiddaw mountain, its tranquil setting and abundant wildlife offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. After adventurous days roaming fells, messing about on the water and watching red squirrels and ospreys, pour a glass of your favourite tipple, slip into the hot tub and sip it beneath the stars.
A few steps lead up to this single-storey lodge, which is circled by a wraparound balcony with lake views. Inside, the lodge is bright and spacious with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a cosy home-from-home feel. The kitchen is beautifully equipped for dining in with a five-ring gas hob, electric oven and even a wine cooler. A dining table with sofa seating invites convivial mealtimes and games evenings, and there’s plenty of comfy seating arranged around a Smart TV. Two comfortable bedrooms await when it’s time to rest your head; choose between a double with an en-suite bathroom and a twin with use of the family shower room. A utility room offers a convenient spot to store muddy boots, while the hot tub is situated on the balcony overlooking the lake. Parking is available for two cars.
Set off on foot to wander lakeside trails watching ospreys feeding on the water, or stroll through Dodd Woods (2 miles), home to red squirrels. There are ample more challenging walks nearby including Skiddaw (4 miles) and Blencathra (12 miles), while water activities on the lake include canoeing and paddleboarding. The delightful market town of Keswick is just 6 miles away, offering a variety of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, along with popular Lakeland attractions such as the Pencil Museum and lakeside theatre.
