Holiday at the very heart of the Lake District National Park when you retreat to this enticing cottage in Brigsteer. Sleeping four guests, and welcoming pets, the two-bedroom hideaway offers colourful, characterful accommodation with a garden for pups and children to play out in. Situated 4 miles from Kendal and 8 miles from Lake Windermere, this is a superb base from which to enjoy the impressive landscapes and natural beauty of Cumbria.

Let yourselves into the cottage, which is believed to date back to the 17th century, to find yourselves in a cosy, beamed lounge with a gorgeous stone fireplace housing a wood burner. Light a fire in here on autumn and winter evenings and then unwind in front of the Smart TV. Gather round the table in here too for celebratory meals or pull a stool out through in the less formal kitchen/diner, where there is a breakfast bar. Here you will also find everything you need to help you rustle up delicious meals with the Cumbrian produce you have sourced on your outings. A utility room and a family shower room are also downstairs. Head up to the first floor to find your comfortable bedrooms. These include a king-size and a double. The family bathroom, with its free-standing bath is also here. Spill out into the delightful walled garden on summer days. Supervise the children on the trampoline and dine under the stars on clear summer nights.

Head 9 miles down to the shores of Windermere and the National Trust's Fell Foot. Here you can walk by the lake or hire canoes and paddle boards to take out on the water. Venture 11 miles to Lakeside to board a cruise boat, which will take you right round the lake and to jetties where you can disembark and explore.

Just returned from a fantastic few days at the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were particularly impressed with the facilities, especially the little extras for the dog such as spare leads, bowls and throws for the sofas. The garden is quiet and peaceful and was lovely to sit in when the sun made an appearance. We would definitely stay Read morehere again. Hide

Lovely house, good location close to the pub in a small village. Charming and cosy throughout, a perfect rustic house which is what we wanted. Only drawbacks are it had old scratched Teflon pans which personally really bothers me because of how bad they are. And the downstairs loo doesnt flush very well.

The cottage had everything we needed for a lovely stay, comfortable beds which my wife normally find are too soft , here she was happy with the bed which is a real bonus for her .nice outdoor area , the log burner would have been nice but the weather was so good it was not needed a shame almost as the living room is really comfy and you could imagiRead morene sitting in front of a roaring fire, overall a very good place Hide

Gorgeous house with plenty of space for the family, handy utility areas for dog when muddy and pushchair etc. didnt need to bring half the things we did the house was so well stockedshop isnt walking distance though but village shop//asda/coop/tesco all a short drive away

Fabulous cottage in a lovely village with a local pub serving good food. Cottage was well equipped and very cosy . Lovely wood burner in the sitting room with comfy L shaped sofa. Would definitely recommend / stay again.
