Set yourselves up for a sumptuous stay at this splendid, single-storey retreat in Portinscale. Sleeping eight guests, the cottage, which is 2 miles from Keswick, makes a great option for extended families or groups of friends. With a wood burner, spa bath and raised deck with far-reaching views, it has some lovely touches. Canine companions are welcome too and there is a garden here for them to stretch their legs in.

Climb four steps to enter and find yourself in a gorgeous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a high vaulted ceiling and beautiful beams. Sink back into the soft seating, with the wood burner blazing on colder days. Play games or watch the Smart TV together on those evenings you decide to stay in. Grab a chilled bottle of wine from the cooler in the kitchen, then perch at the breakfast bar, chatting to the chef of your party. The large table is the perfect place to congregate for your holiday feasts. There is also a handy utility room close to the kitchen. When day turns to night, make your way through to one of the two king-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room, and one with a cot for little ones under the age of two. There is also a twin bedroom and a bunk room/playroom that the children in your group will adore. Treat yourself to a hydro shower or spa bath in the family bathroom to help you truly relax. Unwind out on the deck as well, taking in the views out over Grizedale and towards the mountains.

Take a cruise or hire boats out on Derwentwater from the marina 0.5 miles away. Head into Keswick to shop, dine out and enjoy a play at the Theatre by the Lake. Follow the 10-mile path around Derwentwater on foot.

We had a lovely family holiday at Craiglynne Lodge, overall the property is very nice and comfortable, good parking for 3+ cars (a bonus for the Lakes) access road is a bit narrow. The size, facilities and presentation of the property is overall very good, they provide a cot, however the provision of a high chair would be a good addition. Good locaRead moretion for access to Keswick both by car and on foot. Hide

A home-from-home cottage that had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Very peaceful and well located for enjoying the fells and water sports. Also in easy distance of local shops and good places to eat out. We loved our stay and hope to return.

We loved this place! As a family of grown-ups and 2 dogs we appreciated the open plan design, the high standard of comfortable furnishings, and the well-equipped kitchen. The welcome hamper was perfect and we really lacked for nothing. The location is also 5 star - with amazing views of the surrounding fells - lovely on a summer evening. As we all Read moretended to do our own thing pedestrian access to Keswick, local walks further afield, nearby pub and cafe and bus-stop were all appreciated. Hide

We loved our stay in CraigLynne. It was very comfortable and you provide everything you'd ever need, for any length of stay. All the equipment is amazing and the play room, games etc just added to experience. We are looking to come back next year for a whole week.
