Situated in Portinscale, this spacious three-bedroom property is a homely retreat with a pretty enclosed garden, views towards Skiddaw, and a footpath into Keswick. Perfectly placed for exploring the lake and mountains, it’s an ideal holiday retreat for a family plus two waggy-tailed pals.

Cheerful tones and homely comforts sweep through this light and spacious property. After a day of outdoor activity, leave boots in the hallway and step through to the open-plan living area. In the lounge, plump sofas invite you to sit and chat about your day, or simply relax with a drink and enjoy the views towards Skiddaw. A sociable dining table overlooks the lounge and boasts pretty garden views while off from the living area is a large, light-drenched kitchen and sunroom. While the chef in the family cooks up a delicious meal you can sit in the sunroom and plan the next day’s activities. As the day draws to an end, head upstairs to the first floor where you’ll find three lovely bedrooms featuring a king-size, a single, and twin beds. All the bedrooms are well furnished and adorned with bedside tables, lamp lighting, and artwork on the walls. There’s also a family bathroom on this floor. Outside, the hedged garden is a tranquil spot. While the children play on the lawn, you can sit and soak up the views of the mountains.

Head to Derwent Water Marina (320 metres) and enjoy a walk around the lake or jump on a boat and explore the landscape from the water. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage has everything you need. The location is amazing for walks straight from the door. We did take our dogs and the garden is not secure if you have a naughty chocolate lab who can squeeze through gaps in the bushes.

The location is ideal, car not necessary as its in walking distance of so many great walks, eateries etc. We found the property extremely clean, heating/hot water all ok, beds/settee etc very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The owners are avid collectors of memorabilia which is on display throughout the property. Theres a large garden wiRead moreth great views although there are a number of steps from the patio down to the lower part of the garden. Hide

Lovely home to stay in , would recommend for sure . The bottom garden was a bit overgrown . However I feel this is more due to the weather recently and whilst there . It had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and we loved playing the games in the evening . There was something for everyone . The little welcome gifts were an added bonuRead mores and appreciated. Location was great enabling a nice walk to catbells the first sunny morning we had and Keswick the rainy mornings Hide
