Escape to the beautiful southern Lake District when you stay at this delightful cottage in enchanting Subberthwaite. Sleeping six guests, and offering dog-friendly accommodation, the three-bedroom retreat, which is 2 miles from Lowick, is exquisitely finished internally and features a gorgeous garden with stunning views and access to a private woodland externally. It is 4.5 miles from Coniston Water and 10 miles from Lake Windermere.
Make your way inside to find a spacious and welcoming lounge/diner at its heart. Light the wood burner so it throws a cosy glow across this space, which has panelled walls and a wooden floor. Watch TV, dine at the table and slide the doors back on to the stylish kitchen space, which has everything you need to help you cater for your party. Wander through to the snug to choose a book or catch up on some work at the desk. As night falls, make your way up to the first floor, where your bedrooms and bathrooms are situated. There is a twin bedroom up here, plus two king-sizes, one of which has an en-suite shower room. The family bathroom, with a freestanding bath, is also at this level. Cook supper on the BBQ out in the sunshine on summer evenings and dine in the garden as you take in your splendid surroundings.
Pick up the Cumbria Way, which begins 7.5 miles away at Ulverston and passes close to the cottage on its 71-mile route to Carlisle. Browse in the shops and dine out in friendly pubs in Ulverston. Plan a day trip to Lakeside, 10 miles away, where you can take a cruise out on Lake Windermere or catch a heritage steam train through the magnificent Cumbrian scenery. Venture 10.5 miles to Coniston village to hire motor boats or canoes on Coniston Water.
