Property code: 93280

This pretty cottage is located in the rural village of Bridekirk. Sleeping four guests, the cottage suits small families and couples seeking to explore the Lake District and Cumbrian coast; Bassenthwaite is 11.5 miles away and the harbour town of Maryport is 6 miles away. In the evenings, sip a sundowner in the idyllic, walled garden, watching the wildlife in the surrounding fields.

The mid-terrace holiday home is decorated in a country cottage style, with beautiful accessories and homely touches throughout. Enter via the lobby, where you can store coats and walking boots, and head into the cosy lounge with its roaring wood burner, comfortable seating, and Smart TV. A couple of steps lead from here to the country-style kitchen, which is bright and airy and enjoys views across the garden. Steps lead from the kitchen to the elegant dining area, where you can gather for hearty breakfasts and evening meals. Cottage-style stairs lead to the two inviting bedrooms and the family bathroom. To the rear of the cottage is a walled garden, which backs onto open fields. The garden is fully enclosed – making it ideal for furry guests – and has a patio and furniture for al fresco dining.

The Georgian market town of Cockermouth (2 miles) has a fantastic array of independent shops and eateries to explore. It’s also the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth and you can visit his former home at Wordsworth House and Garden, in the centre of the town. The property is perfectly placed for exploring some of the Lake District’s top tourist spots, including the bustling town of Keswick (16.5 miles) and the picturesque lakes of Bassenthwaite (11.5 miles) and Derwentwater (17 miles). Keen walkers can take on the mighty peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra, both within 20 miles.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin

A 5-star experience in a cosy, extremely clean and well-appointed cottage. We enjoyed coming home in the evening, lighting the fire and enjoying the lovely quiet atmosphere. The property has excellent WiFi which might be handy for those needing access the internet during their vacation. The only thing missing was a pub nearby but we knew this when Read morebooking the cottage. Still...somewhere to walk to for a meal would have been the cherry on the cake. We had a great time at Rose Cottage. It was very clean, very comfy and well equipped (including a freezer, which isn't on the listing). The bed was very comfortable. A previous comment said shower was not powerful, we did not have this experience, it was a powerful shower with no issues with temperature control. Great base to explore the north lakeRead mores, including the coast, and we even ventured to Scotland. We loved our week, and only wish we had longer. Hide

Amazing cottage in a great location- very quiet but only a short drive to Cockermouth for anything you need. Great base for exploring the Lakes - numerous good walks for the dogs both from the door & by driving. Also, delighted to find freezer as were concerned how the G&Ts were going to be without ice!

We had a lovely stay at rose cottage, everything we needed and more, even down to dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lake District, and the location of Rose Cottage is pleasant, I personally do not feel it quite matches up to it's star rating. The shower is awful and really not fit for purpose. It has very weak water pressure and cannot maintain a consistent temperature unless it is turned to one exact setting. The fixRead moretures and fittings are not great in some places and there is only one tiny 3-legged coffee table in a living room designed to accommodate 4 people. Hide

The house is in a lovely cosy little village, just outside of the town of cockermouth. It is the sort of awkward middle building with access to one on road parking space outside. The actual house is a great space which my little 8 month old loved exploring. There is quite a few lovely walking roads around and the locals were all really friendly.

What a wonderful place! A real home away from home. All the little touches and amenities were amazing. We did not want to leave, it was so lovely and comfortable. The freestanding bathtub is amazing after a long days hike topped with a real fire and a movie. The host was great and the neighbours lovely. Will come back!
