This pretty cottage is located in the rural village of Bridekirk. Sleeping four guests, the cottage suits small families and couples seeking to explore the Lake District and Cumbrian coast; Bassenthwaite is 11.5 miles away and the harbour town of Maryport is 6 miles away. In the evenings, sip a sundowner in the idyllic, walled garden, watching the wildlife in the surrounding fields.
The mid-terrace holiday home is decorated in a country cottage style, with beautiful accessories and homely touches throughout. Enter via the lobby, where you can store coats and walking boots, and head into the cosy lounge with its roaring wood burner, comfortable seating, and Smart TV. A couple of steps lead from here to the country-style kitchen, which is bright and airy and enjoys views across the garden. Steps lead from the kitchen to the elegant dining area, where you can gather for hearty breakfasts and evening meals. Cottage-style stairs lead to the two inviting bedrooms and the family bathroom. To the rear of the cottage is a walled garden, which backs onto open fields. The garden is fully enclosed – making it ideal for furry guests – and has a patio and furniture for al fresco dining.
The Georgian market town of Cockermouth (2 miles) has a fantastic array of independent shops and eateries to explore. It’s also the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth and you can visit his former home at Wordsworth House and Garden, in the centre of the town. Keen walkers can take on the mighty peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra, both within 20 miles.
