This beautifully refurbished cottage is in the pretty village of Bridekirk, 2 miles from the market town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth. If you are not busy exploring the Lakes or coast you can spend many hours in the nearby town, shopping, enjoying walks, visiting art galleries, discovering Wordsworth's legacy, or savouring a nice meal. Kirkgate Arts Centre and its cinema, also features live music and a theatre. Keswick is only 17 miles away and Bassenthwaite, Loweswater, Crummock, Derwentwater and Buttermere are all within very easy reach. Whinlatter Forest has the famous Gruffalo Trail – it’s also a great place for mountain biking (10 miles). The Lakes Wildlife Park (10 miles) offers a fun day out for all the family.

The cottage provides a warm welcome and has been finished to a high standard throughout, with lots of thought going into all the finishing touches. Walk in through the front door, and you will find yourself in a small lobby area where there is storage for coats and walking boots. To the right of the entrance, you will find the cosy lounge with a feature stone fireplace and a wood burner which offers a great place to curl up at the end of the day with a good book or watch your favourite film on the Smart TV. Up a couple of steps from the lounge, you will find the country-style kitchen which is bright and airy and has views over the garden. The kitchen is open and leads down into the dining area which is a great space to enjoy a hearty breakfast or a romantic evening meal. The traditional cottage stairs to the first floor are found in the lounge; upstairs, you will find two relaxing bedrooms with attractive low windows with views over the village. There is a family bathroom with a raised free-standing bath, a separate shower, and a WC.

There is a walled, enclosed rear garden which backs onto the open fields. The patio with seating is a great spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of your favourite tipple on a sunny evening.

A lovely well equipped cottage in a quiet location and convenient for exploring the northern Lake District. But its a shame holidaycottages.co.uk have started adding a damage waiver. Just another add on.

We had a lovely stay shame it was only for a weekend. Log burner was lovely on an evening and made the cottage even cosier and generous amount of logs. Very clean throughout and well equipped kitchen . Beds were lovely and comfy. Location was good as we weren't too far to travel to various lakes or other attractions. The house is in a lovely cosy little village, just outside of the town of cockermouth. It is the sort of awkward middle building with access to one on road parking space outside. The actual house is a great space which my little 8 month old loved exploring. There is quite a few lovely walking roads around and the locals were all really friendly.

Lovely Cosy Cottage Spent a delightful week at Rose Cottage, peace, quiet and relaxation. The cottage had everything we needed bar a freezer (my bad for not asking) and a rolling pin (easy rectified with a wine bottle!) Beautifully restored and would rebook in a heartbeat.

What a wonderful place! A real home away from home. All the little touches and amenities were amazing. We did not want to leave, it was so lovely and comfortable. The freestanding bathtub is amazing after a long days hike topped with a real fire and a movie. The host was great and the neighbours lovely. Will come back!
