Escape with your loved ones to this delightful barn-conversion hideaway in the friendly village of Bolton. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, this is a perfect accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to discover Cumbria’s beautiful historic sites and incredible mountains and lakes together. During the day, take a walk to the breathtaking High Cup Nick Glacial Valley, where you’ll find plenty of peace and tranquillity to enjoy. In the evening, return home to host an al fresco feast in the cottage’s large lawn area. After dinner, open up a bottle of something cool and crisp and watch the stars come out.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a hallway leading to an inviting lounge. Slip onto the sofa and admire the beautiful country views from the large picture window, before heading upstairs to the chic galley-style kitchen to whip up some dinner. Gather everyone together in the informal dining room, which is bathed in natural light. If you prefer to dine alfresco, host a feast in the shared garden while you enjoy the beautiful surroundings. After dinner, head back to the spacious lounge to relax in front of the TV. At the end of the day, there are two lovely bedrooms waiting for you - a double and a twin.

Discover Appleby Castle (4.5 miles), which was built in the 12th century. Explore the beautiful gardens and admire the amazing ruins. Afterwards, head to Lowther Castle and Gardens (8.5 miles) to admire the unusual sculptures in its colourful gardens. If you have kids with you, they’ll love swinging by the Lost Castle Adventure Playground. Alternatively, head to Lacy's Caves (14 miles) - a series of five atmospheric chambers carved out of a red sandstone cliff on the River Eden.

A wonderful stay, the place was fully stocked with everything required and Edith couldn't have been any more genuinely kind and helpful, she even lent us (without us mentioning it) a couple of hiking sticks as we'd neglected to bring our own. I'm sure she would have given us something from her own place if we'd have found anything amiss. it was an Read morepleasure to stay there, we'd definitely go back. it has a beautiful view from the wide front room arched window, and some friendly horses. This is a beautiful and charming barn conversion, boasting spectacular views across the Cumbrian fells. It's well presented, cosy and comfortable. The ceilings are quite low however along the sides of the barn so be mindful of this, and the narrow galley kitchen is rather snug. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, in this lovely home Read morefrom home. The owner was very warm and welcoming, and gave us lots of great ideas for places to see. Super location for walking with many footpaths. Visited nearby places eg Dalemain house, Larch Cottage etc. without going into the Lakes. Delicious food at local pub. We would recommend that written in the description of the property it should state "Not really suitable for people over 6 feet tall due to lack of head room. It would be lovely if there was a space for sitting out in the evening
