Step into the magical world of Beatrix Potter with a stay in Hawkshead, spending time in this wonderful stone cottage with a picture window offering views out across the village. The property is immaculately decorated with traditional-meets-contemporary features, simply a delightful place for four guests to stay. Friends and families can unearth a world of adventure in the surrounding Cumbrian countryside, including water sports on the National Park’s famed lakes, mountain biking on mighty fells and hikes through mystical forests and woodlands. There’s also a world of literary history to discover, with both Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth having deep connections to the village itself.

Benefiting from an elevated position, you’ll need to ascend an external staircase to enter the open-plan living space up on the first floor. The cosiest spot for mid-winter stays, find a wood burner in here with a soft sofa and a Smart TV positioned around, ideal for those cold evenings. The kitchen is thoroughly equipped for preparing three meals a day and there’s a dining table right here. The bedrooms are to be found on the lower ground floor and the second floor, allowing both pairs of guests a sense of privacy. Each is adjacent to its own private bathroom, one with a shower and another with a sumptuous roll-top bath and shower over.

Become well acquainted with picturesque Hawkshead, wandering out each day to visit local pubs and shops that are all within 500 metres. There’s also the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the local chocolate factory to be explored. Take inspiration in the beauty of the area as you wander down to Esthwaite Water (1 mile) and take a walk along the bank of the lake. Keen fishermen may also wish to head out on the water, embarking on an afternoon of boat or bank fishing for pike or brown trout.

Lovely cottage in a really convenient location in the centre of Hawkeshead. A quirky, clever, stylish renovation. Looks exactly like the photos. Spotlessly clean. We spent a very happy, comfortable week there. The free parking for one car at the door is much appreciated, but it is entered via a VERY narrow gap between buildings (Hawkeshead wasn't bRead moreuilt for cars, after all.) Maybe useful to know that the downstairs shower is over the bath, which is very high, so a bit of a climb. We will be back! Hide

Lovely cottage in the heart of Hawkshead, lots of quaint touches and everything you could need, appliances etc. Parking outside cottage but narrow access, would struggle with a large car.

Lovely cottage, secluded and clean and beautifully furnished. Some visitors might find the access a little tricky in a big car and also there are a lot of steps for anyone who is infirm. We would definitely come again. Thank you.

Meadow view is a lovely cottage in an ideal situation being in the centre of Hawkshead village. Comfortable beds, ample heating and everything one would need in terms of kitchen utensils. Also some local goodies left which was a bonus (tea, fresh coffee, biscuits, chocolate).
