Antique wares and ornate decorative features add to the undeniable charm of this Cumbrian country house. Set amongst never-ending greenery, with ancient woodlands to explore all around and walks from its doorstep, a stay here offers you the chance to really get lost in nature and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a countryside retreat. The property, which sleeps up to six guests and two dogs, is conveniently positioned within easy reach of some real Lake District attractions, including Lake Windermere just 1 mile away and the Beatrix Potter village of Hawkshead a little bit further (3 miles).

This handsome stone cottage is filled to the brim with traditional local charm. Step inside to find a stone-flagged kitchen with a wood burner keeping things cosy throughout the winter months. There’s a breakfast table in here for sociable mealtimes. Elsewhere on the ground floor, two rooms await for evening relaxation. The snug with armchairs and a wood burner is the cosiest spot to sit and read a book, whilst the larger living room is the perfect place to play a board game as a family. There’s also the terrace with outdoor seating, a spot for admiring the view in the warmer months. Back inside, find three handsome and adaptable bedrooms on the first floor, one of which boasts an en-suite and the others served by a family bathroom.

The cottage is in Far Sawrey, a Lake District hamlet that’s at the foothills of Claife Heights (4 miles) and just 1 mile from Esthwaite Water. Your nearest village, Hawkshead, is a chocolate box destination with pubs, a National Trust-maintained Beatrix Potter gallery and even a chocolate factory that kids will love. There are more attractions to be found in two nearby towns, Bowness (2.5 miles) and Windermere (4 miles), both accessible via the ferry that regularly crosses Lake Windermere.

A beautifully restored 1790 house that offers every amenity but retains the feel of a classic home. The location in Far Sawrey was tranquil and quiet but so close to Hilltop and Hawkshead.

Fabulous cottage in a super location. Fascinating decorative elements and very spacious, extremely comfortable beds - the children loved their room with a screen to change behind and a cheval glass to admire themselves in, as well as the wonderful colourful furniture The sun shone enough for us to make use of the patio, with its sturdy furniture, sRead moreeveral times. The garden is very well fenced, so dogs and children are secure, unless they find the path up the steep wooded bank at the rear! Hide
