Located in an elevated spot overlooking the quaint village of Glenridding and Ullswater Lake, this characterful cottage is ideal for groups of five family members who are keen to explore the fabulous Lake District. Spend days walking and cycling before enjoying the warming fire at this charming retreat.
Head inside via the glass porch which overlooks the lake; take a load off and sit in the chair and admire the views. The colourful lounge contains the original open fire and stone flooring, where you can sit and unwind as you plan the days ahead. A cottage-style kitchen provides the perfect spot for rustling up tasty breakfasts, lunches and dinners. There’s even a dining area as well as a utility space in the back porch. Completing the ground floor is a handy WC. Upstairs on the first floor, you will find the first of the double bedrooms, which offers stunning surrounding views. Across the landing is a single bedroom with a large window that lets light flood in. Adjacent is a family bathroom. On the second floor is a spacious double bedroom with remarkable views through the picture windows of the fells, valleys and Ullswater. Sip on a morning coffee or an evening beverage in the suntrap front garden which has seating and mountain views.
Your group of five will find walking trails for all abilities right from the doorstep, such as a hike up the mountain of Helvellyn, or a stroll alongside the shores of Ullswater Lake (800 metres). Glenridding village itself has a range of pubs, shops, and cafes for you to peruse. Hop on the Ullswater Steamers, boats that take visitors across the lake all the way to Pooley Bridge. Alternatively, visit the cascading Aira Force Waterfall (3 miles). You can also easily access the wonderful, chocolate-box town of Keswick (16 miles).
As the 2nd double room can be noisy with the wind during winter months, this property may be suitable for a party size of 3 from October - March.
