Surrounded by the fells of the Lake District National Park, this traditional slate cottage with spacious and homely interiors and a garden is the perfect escape for a group of six humans and two canine companions seeking a tranquil break in nature. While based in the north of the national park, you’ll have an array of outdoor sports opportunities, hiking trails and wildlife-watching spots on your doorstep.
Drive through the gated entrance and walk through the front door of this charming cottage to find welcoming and bright interiors. Natural light pours through the glass patio doors into the lounge, where you can spend time with your loved ones on the plump leather sofas in front of the warming wood burner in a fireplace made from local slate. The kitchen is spacious and neutral-toned with a splash of wooden and green decor. Once you’ve mustered up a homemade meal, dine together at the wooden table. A hand utility area can also be found next to the kitchen. Through the hallway are three bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite. Completing the property is a family bathroom. Outside is a garden which wraps around the property with a lawn and a seating area beside a stream.
Follow the walking paths from your front door to Skiddaw Mountain peak which is 931 metres high and 4.5 miles away. If you fancy something less strenuous, go for a stroll around the picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake (6 miles). Soak up the views from the Whitewater Dash scenic point (3 miles) and visit the historical Castlerigg Stone Circle (9.5 miles). Near here is the lively town of Keswick (8.5 miles), where you can visit museums, go to the theatre and dine out.
