  • Wind-down with luxuriously spacious super king-size beds
Property code: 92250

This beautifully converted barn is full of character and charm, with wonderful views across the countryside. Perfectly placed for exploring the unspoiled Cumbrian landscape, it sleeps eight guests and is pet friendly, with a welcome for two canine companions. The spacious, stone-built property is set in the peaceful village of Crosby Garrett, close to the Coast-to-Coast long-distance path. There are splendid scenic walks and cycle trails on the doorstep, while shops and restaurants in the colourful market town of Kirkby Stephen in the lovely Eden Valley are just 4 miles away.

The barn is stylishly furnished, with original features, which include beams and period fireplaces. A boot room for muddy boots and washing paws leads to the light-filled kitchen and bright dining area. The double-aspect living room is a welcoming space, with comfortable, colourful sofas and a wood burner. Upstairs are two family bathrooms and four inviting bedrooms. These comprise two super-king-size, with zip-and-link beds that can be made into twins, and two super-king-size, one with a Juliet balcony looking out to the fells. Outside, are two seating areas with splendid views: a patio to the front and a garden lawn with a BBQ.

Smardale Gill (3 miles) is a National Nature Reserve, where steep wooded slopes contrast with spectacular views from the footpath along a former railway viaduct. This is a great place for spotting butterflies and wildflowers. Take a trip from Kirkby Stephen station on the beautiful Settle to Carlisle line to explore the historic market town of Appleby (8.5) miles, famous for its annual horse fair. Kirkby Stephen also has a historic, 19th-century station and steam railway, open at weekends from Easter to December, with train rides on special event days.

Beautifully appointed cottage in a very nice location. I'm sure it's not an issue in summer, but in bad weather it's worth taking provisions with you, as we were let down by an online food deliverer and the nearest shop is 4 miles away. It was a wonderful property for the 7 of us. Plenty of room, very comfortable and very well appointed. A luxuriouRead mores feel to it, especially upstairs. Hide

Very comfy cottage. Spacious, well equipped and lots of parking space. Was perfect for our family holiday, a great location to have a bit of a quiet retreat style holiday with only a quick drive to pubs and shops.

A stunning property perfect for a family holiday. Off the beaten track but there is so much to do in an hour or less in the car, towards the lake District or in the Yorkshire dales. A large comfortable property.

Beautiful and spacious property, set in a lovely part of the world. The cottage itself was spotless, and well equipped for our party of eight.

We loved the location but it is 10 minute drive and no facilities nearer. That is why we chose it but it may not suit some people. It is a well firnished and comfortable house in a very very quiet spot. It is very dog friendly but not fenced in so dogs can get out. Wi-fi is a bit intermittent as in most rural areas. Very comfortable cottage in a very quiet pretty village. Beds super comfy, rooms good size, well equipped kitchen, good sized lounge. The only downside is that the village doesn't have a pub, so someone needs to be the designated driver for pub evening meals. But great walks from the door, or nearby and SUCH pretty scenery. Plus side: not the hoardRead mores of tourists that you find when you turn left off the M6 (coming from the over-crowded south!). We shall turn right again! Great area. Hide

A truly lovely cottage that was far more spacious than I had imagined and is exceedingly comfortable. The whole cottage was also lovely and warm and although we lit a log fire it was used for the ambiance rather than providing any additional heat. It is also in a beautiful setting, well away from the crowds which might not suit everyone but for ourRead more group of six was ideal. Hide

Glebe Farm was a very well equipped, spacious and comfortable cottage for our family gathering of three generations. It is in a beautiful and peaceful location and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside and visiting the local towns of Appleby and Kirkby Stephen.

It was a very beautiful cottage and it was even bigger than it looked on the photos. We stayed there for a week with 3 children and two dogs and had everything we needed: all the equipment to cook and clean and a lovely fireplace that we got started almost every evening. Good quality beds and pillows, ensuring a good nights sleep. Good location to Read moreventure East or West. Hide

We were sold on the cottage by the photos, and it's actually even lovelier in person! It's a beautiful property: super-spacious & full of character, and has been renovated to a very high standard. It's the kind of place you really don't want to leave at the end of the holiday, where your own house feels a bit lacking in comparison on return!
