A traditional, whitewashed cottage in the charming market town of Keswick has lovely views of the fells and overlooks the River Greta. Ideal for a small family or friends sharing, it sleeps four guests, and is within 100 metres of shops and restaurants. This pretty terraced property offers a perfect base for exploring the wealth of beautiful lakes and mountains that encircle the town. Derwentwater (0.5 miles), Bassenthwaite (3.5 miles) and mighty Skiddaw (5 miles) are all within easy reach.
A quaint covered entrance and porch give entry to the cottage and the cosy lounge. This welcoming, open-plan room has comfortable seating beneath white-washed beams and a wood burner-effect gas fire. A separate dining area at the end of the room opens to the sleek, kitchen. There is also a utility room and WC, with access to the rear, enclosed courtyard. Stairs from the lounge lead up to the family bathroom and two inviting bedrooms: one king-size and one twin. Outside, the courtyard has seating as well as a small summerhouse, which can double up as a useful workspace.
Bustling Keswick has lots to see and enjoy, including the famous Pencil Museum, live shows at Theatre by the Lake and a leisure pool with a wave machine. If you plan to go kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding, there are outdoor equipment and hire stops galore. You can admire the glorious landscape on the 8-mile path around lovely Derwentwater or take a 50-minute boat cruise, with seven landing stages along the way, where you can hop on and off. Whinlatter Forest (5 miles) has walking, cycling and mountain biking tracks, plus a splendid Gruffalo Trail for children.
