Bask in the sunny garden and savour the internal character of this charming retreat when you stay in Broughton-in-Furness in the southern Lake District. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom cottage is at the heart of the small Lakeland town and is perfect for anyone wishing to be close to shops and pubs as well as beautiful places to walk. Offering dog-friendly accommodation, the cosy retreat has a winter-warming wood burner as well as its generous garden for summer days.

Enter to find a wealth of original character, with flagstone floors and beamed ceilings. Sit back in the lounge/kitchen/diner to rest your weary feet after your busy days, with the wood burner crackling on chilly evenings and a good film on the TV. Find books to read and games to play in here too. Head over to the kitchen area at the far end of the space to unpack any shopping you have bought and whip up a quick snack or hearty meal for your friends or family. Gather round the table for lively holiday meals together. When eyelids begin to droop, climb the stairs up to the first floor of the cottage, where two pretty double bedrooms and one single are situated. The family shower room is also up here. Spill out into the garden when the sun shines to play games with the children and pets on the grass or relax over a cup of coffee on the patio.

Pack a picnic and drive 11 miles to enjoy a day by beautiful Coniston Water. The southern tip of Lake Windermere is 17 miles from the cottage. Head to Lakeside to catch a cruise out on the water or a steam train through the surrounding, picturesque scenery. Venture 8.5 miles to while away an afternoon on the beach at Haverigg.

This is a lovely cottage very close to the centre of the village. a great place for exploring the southern Lakes.
