Lose yourselves in the views out towards Embleton Fells and Lorton Vale when you escape to this inviting retreat on the fringes of Cockermouth. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom holiday home, which has a garden and welcomes canine companions, makes a great base for exploring the northern swathe of the Lake District, including the Western Fells. It is 5 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake and 0.5 miles from the centre of Cockermouth, with its spectrum of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Enter via the hall which leads to a lounge to the front of the house. Put your feet up in here for a spell, perhaps in front of the Smart TV, or wander on through to the stunning lounge/kitchen/diner, where there is additional comfortable seating and bi-folding doors that can be pulled right back on to the garden. Whip up hearty Cumbrian feasts in here with the tasty produce you have bought in town, then call everyone to gather round the table either inside or out. There is also a WC downstairs. The four bedrooms are all up on the first floor. These include two doubles, a twin and a super-king-size, with an en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom here. Wake up to views out towards the fells or over the garden. Have your first cup of tea out in the enclosed outside space on sunny days as you wait for the rest of your party to join you for breakfast.

Make time to see English poet William Wordsworth’s childhood home while you are in Cockermouth. Venture into the Lake District to wander through Whinlatter Forest, 8 miles away, or walk along the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. Visit Keswick and head out on Derwentwater, 12.5 miles away, on a cruise or hired canoe, kayak or rowing boat.

We had a great stay, the house was lovely and clean and there was lots of room. We all loved it. Although the house is on a development there are still lovely views especially from the bedrooms. Cockermouth is a good base for visiting the usual Lake District attractions. We also really enjoyed a visit to Whinlatter Forest. Would definitely stay herRead moree again. Hide

Fabulous home from home. Well situated for visiting the lakes. Plenty local amenities. Everything you needed in a rental property. The house was lovely and clean with beautiful decor. Great that its dog friendly with a very secure back garden. The rental company were great in sorting out a little issue we had. Nothing that any new build property miRead moreght experience. The problems were resolved out of hours and followed up the next morning. Highly recommend hope to to return soon. Hide

We had a wonderful stay at Strawberry How. The house is beautiful and the location was perfect an easy walk to the local pub (the bitter end) which served great good. The house was very well equipped and the bedrooms were so comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely fantastic property, so comfortable and slept better than I do at home. The garden space is brilliant especially with our 2 dogs, they had a great time playing. Great property large enclosed garden for any dogs, good location around 1 hour away from lake Windermere and 20 minutes to Keswick. The kitchen was slightly cluttered with things that didnt work. The beds were very comfortable. No first aid kit when we needed it.
