This charming, single-storey cottage with gorgeous views sleeps four guests and is ideal for those seeking greater accessibility. The thoughtfully planned accommodation is spacious and beautifully furnished, with a large suntrap terrace. Set at the foot of Cartmel Fell, the stone-built cottage is perfectly placed for peaceful walks and cycle trails in this unspoiled corner of the Southern Lakes. The nearby village of Newton-In-Cartmel (3.5 miles) has a pub and a Michelin-starred restaurant, while lovely Lake Windermere is within 8.5 miles.
Enter through a porch into the bright, well-equipped kitchen. In the open-plan lounge/diner, a comfortable sofa and two armchairs in front of a cosy wood burner are an invitation to relax. The separate dining area echoes the theme of restful blue shades used throughout the cottage interior. There are two delightful bedrooms: a twin and a king-size both with en-suite wet rooms. The king-size, to the rear of the cottage, has a second entrance, giving increased access. Outside, the terrace patio with seating offers beautiful views, with a pretty, partly enclosed garden.
Have a great day out on the picturesque Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (9 miles). The train runs to Lakeside Station at the southern tip of Windermere. From here, you can catch a cruise up the lake, enjoying magnificent views of mountains, secluded bays and wooded islands. Visit the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park (4 miles), perfect for swimming, paddling and boat hire, or simply drinking in the scenery. Or head for an exhilarating walk along on the mile-long promenade at the seaside town of Grange-over-Sands (2.5 miles).
