Experience a stay in a traditional stone cottage for a memory-making Lake District retreat. Opportunely situated between Coniston and Windermere, this property makes a fabulous base for a hiking holiday, complete with a cosy wood burner to curl up next to at the end of each day. Filled to the brim with traditional design elements and statement soft furnishings, this two-storey holiday home is instantly welcoming and invites four guests to stay. Spend time exploring Grizedale Forest nearby, perhaps taking younger guests to the Go Ape adventure centre that’s just 1 mile away. Alternatively, keep things easy-going with trips to Windermere (13.5 miles) and Ambleside (9.5 miles), beloved Lake District locations with plenty of sought-after amenities.

You’ll enter the bespoke fitted kitchen with a handsome dining table on arrival at this property, letting yourself in from the gravelled driveway that’s just off a country road. After mealtimes, move through into the lovely lounge with plush sofas positioned around a fire and a Smart TV – simply the perfect place to while away an evening. With comfy mattresses and soft linens, you’ll love collapsing into the double or twin beds at the end of each day. Finally, head back upstairs and venture out to the terrace with outdoor furniture and unbeatable views.

Discover plenty of walking opportunities at two of the South Lakes’ most popular bodies of water, Coniston Water (4 miles) and Lake Windermere (5 miles). Both offer regular daily cruises with launches at Coniston (7.5 miles) and Lakeside (6.5 miles), ideal for those who want to admire the scenery without exerting too much energy. From Bowness-on-Windermere (7 miles), another popular Cumbrian town, kayaking or SUP boarding equipment can be rented for another way to explore the water.

The barn is very comfortable, all rooms are deceptively large & ooze character. The furniture choices give the place a very high end finish. The front balcony offers a wonderful view of Grizdale Forest, the morning sun illuminating the hillside. The decking at the rear provides another spacious area to unwind at the end of the day catching the evenRead moreing sun. The location is perfect for exploring the many walks the area offers, Grizdale forest is a stones throw away & the lakes just a short drive. Hide

This is a lovely cottage in a great location - a short drive away from Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere etc. There is a great pub just down the road and a lovely tea room practically next door. There are plenty of good walks you can do in Grizedale Forest (and the visitor centre cafe does an excellent breakfast). Just be aware that Hawkshead is theRead more nearest place for shops and only has a small Co-op so you probably need to bring your own essentials. Hide
