A matchless base for Cumbrian walkers, this fabulous country cottage sits on the edge of the North Pennines AONB with the Pennine Way close by and the Lake District National Park in driving distance. Ideally suited to those who want to hike, trek or bike their way around some of Northern England’s most dramatic beauty spots, this holiday home invites four guests to stay with comfy beds ready for resting up ahead of excursions yet to come. The property is pet-friendly to allow for epic dog-walking adventures in the surrounding greenery and is metres from a food-serving country pub in Dufton village.

Enter via the back of the property after a long walk, leaving muddy boots and wet outerwear in the utility room before making yourselves at home. The property’s entire offering is laid out on the ground floor, with two bedrooms and a bathroom easy to access just off the hallway. The lounge is an exceptionally inviting space with cushy seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV, whilst next door the kitchen/diner is a light-filled space for sociable mealtimes. There’s also the garden on offer, a lovely grassy spot that’s enclosed, secure for pets or children to play and complete with a little summerhouse and bistro set.

Mighty waterfalls and impressive fells sit close by in the Teesdale scenery, with Cross Fell (8 miles), Ashgill Force (16.5 miles) and High Force (16 miles) all worth exploring nearby. Walk the High Cup Nick (4 miles) along the Pennine Way, stopping off for a waterfront picnic at Cow Green Reservoir whilst en route (9 miles). For those seeking some real adrenaline-pumping adventure, the local Yad Moss ski lift (18.5 miles) is sure to set any heart racing. For more relaxing pursuits, visit the nearby town of Appleby (3.5 miles) with its weekly market and pleasant town square.

Great Location, Fantastic view from the Kitchen Window, dog friendly with secure garden and walks from the door-step. Cottage is warm & inviting, Would recommend Post box caf and Stags head pub both have excellent food and value for money (dog friendly)

A comfortable and very spacious cottage with lots of secure outside space for the dog to wander around in. The summer house was a favourite place to sit when the wind cooled or the rains came. A small torch would be good to have when returning late evening as there is a whole in main drive way but 10/10 for cottage but a fly mesh at kitchen window would keep the flies out when cooking and window open

Delightful little cottage! Super location in a lovely quiet little village, but within a half hour drive or so to most of the main Lakes. Great local pub serves lovely food (but book). The cottage is lovely and in a fantastic location. For comfort the main problem is the sofa which is only for two and not particularly comfy, there are two chairs as well but these are upright. The kitchen is well equipped, very useful washing machine and dryer. The owners were very helpful sorting out any problems. Skippers was ideal for us with our small dog. The garden was completely safe and secure and it was really nice being on one level. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The view from the kitchen window was stunning!

We had a wonderful stay with our children (10&8yrs). Cottage was lovely and clean, kitchen was well supplied. Beds very comfortable all amenities worked well. Safe enclosed pretty garden. Fabulous location plenty of walks including pub and cafe on the green 200 yards away we hope to visit again soon.

My friend and I had a very comfortable stay at Skippers. It is comfortable and well equipped...in fact the beds are super comfortable we found. Very clean and nicely presented.
