The fantastic Ullswater is less than 1 mile away, offering boat cruises, kayaking and sailing on its shores. Explore The Ullswater Way, a 20-mile circular route around the lake, making sure to stop off at the Aira Force Waterfall (4 miles) to take in this splendid sight. On the opposite side of the water, visit the extravagant Lowther Castle and Gardens one enjoyable afternoon (14 miles).
