Boasting an abundance of rural charm, this delightful cottage on the outskirts of the Cumbrian village of Gamblesby is perfect for families who want to explore the Eden Valley and beyond. Whether you’re into walking or cycling, there is a wealth of routes or trails on your doorstep, with the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east and the Lake District National Park to the south. Despite the quiet location, there is a local pub within a mile. With exposed beams and stone walls, this property has plenty of character and rustic charm. On the ground floor, there are two well-presented bedrooms (a king-size and a twin) and a delightful shower room. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up meals and there’s plenty of room around the table for everyone. Outside, enjoy the sunshine in the shared courtyard with a coffee and a good book.

If you’re keen to explore the Northern Lakes, head to Pooley Bridge (15 miles), a village at the northern end of Ullswater with a range of eateries and the option to hop aboard a steamer. Further afield, you can visit stunning Derwentwater (27 miles) which can be accessed from the town of Keswick, also known as the ‘Adventure Capital’ of the Lakes. A short stroll from the town centre takes you out to Friar’s Crag which affords beautiful views across the lake. We found the barn was really homely with some lovely touches & features. The owners, Paul & Karen, met us on arrival & showed us round, gave us helpful instructions etc., & advised us to contact them if we needed any help advice on where to visit, walk, eat etc., We truly enjoyed our time with them & in the beautiful areas of The Pennines, Lakes & Read moreCumbria, Westmorland & Yorkshire. Highly recommend the bakery/cafe in the next village for breakfast, cake & coffee etc., Thank you Paul & Karen xx Hide

Wonderful cottage and such lovely owners! Both Karen & Paul were so welcoming, and it really made a difference to our stay! The cottage it self (The Barn) was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Lovely reception by the owners. The welcome pack was a nice touch and unexpected. Great accommodation for the family including the dogs. Nice village bakery and pub. Although the location is out of the main busy areas everything was within driving distance and didnt cause any issues, it made us get up and out for the day.
