Nestled on the shores of Derwentwater, Keswick (10 miles) is a charming town with a range of independent shops, particularly those selling outdoor gear, and nearby is Derwentwater where you take a boat ride or wander down to Friar’s Crag to admire the view. For a ride on a traditional steamer with stunning views, head to Ullswater (8.5 miles). Pooley Bridge (8.5 miles) at the northern end is a good starting point, with a range of eateries to choose from.
