This wonderful two-storey property in the peaceful hamlet of Haile, on the West Coast of Cumbria, is ideal for friends or families looking for a restful holiday. Situated near the popular St Bees (5 miles), where there are 7 miles of unspoiled beach and endless sand dunes to explore. Calder Bridge is 2.5 miles away, with a tranquil riverside walk alongside the ruins of Calder Abbey.

Step into an elegant and impressive house that features the original bar, dating back to 1826 when it was the local village pub, in the hallway. The 'bar' is a great space to socialise. The large lounge is the hub of the house, where comfortable sofas are set around a wood burner-effect gas fire and Smart TV. Along the hall is the dining room with a glass table and chairs, leading to the beautifully refurbished kitchen with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals. On the first floor, you will find a king-size bedroom with views of fields. Often, you can spot sheep, cows, and, in springtime, playful lambs. Adjoining this is the games room, ideal for entertaining children and adults alike on a rainy day! There is a bathroom and a separate shower room. Further along the landing is the second bedroom with a double bed and a twin room overlooking the garden. From the back door, a few steps up, is a lawned garden area with seating to enjoy the scenery. The garden is perfect for kids and four-legged friends to run around.

Hikers will love this location for all the nearby walking opportunities; England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, is nearby (13 miles). Enjoy a great family day out discovering the area’s history at Muncaster Castle (11 miles) or travelling on the scenic Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (10.5 miles).

Great cottage! Nice and quiet area and easy checkin. Breathtaking on first entrance to the cottage! One thing to note which I missed when booking is that despite saying there is an en-suite, this only includes a small shower and sink. So all 6 guests were sharing one toilet. Lovely spacious cottage with lots of character in a little sleepy village. Good secure garden area for our dogs to play. The kitchen and dining area is great to socialise and was well equipped. Nice comfy beds and we enjoyed the games tables. Only thing I would recommend is another toilet.

I highly recommend the cottage. It is very well equipped, very clean and comfortable. Lovely garden with garden chairs, where you can have a morning coffee in piece and quiet. The owner contacted us on the very first day when we arrived and offered any help if needed. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Gaming room is a great addition. ItRead more is only 30 min from Wasadale if you want to reach Scafell Pike. The place is a dog friendly. Hide

A wonderful cottage in a tranquil location in the stunning Western Lakes. Fabulous location for Wast Water and Ennerdale Water. We enjoyed the comfort the cottage offered, teenagers enjoyed the games room, the garden was secure and perfect for our dog. Wonderful.

The house is in a very quiet area but close to larger towns and we ventured out to Keswick and Grizedale for longer days out. The house is comfortable to come home to, with plenty of space, very clean and well equipped. The cottage is a beautiful old Public House dating from at least 1834 and has been renovated to a high standard with all modern appliances etc. Easy off street parking and when you enter you immediately see the bar and it feels like walking into your own private pub ! The apartment was 100% everything was excellent and it was so clean and the apartment was very comfortable .beds and sofas were comfortable and clean,kitchen was so clean and everything was high quality . Fabulous cottage, everything is brand new, we were the first guests in the house. Finished to a very high standard, The bedrooms, located upstairs, are all beautiful and spacious, and the beds were extremely comfortable.
