Cosy cottage, with wood burner, only stone’s throw away from Lake Windermere with amazing views from the balcony over the water, the perfect getaway location.

Cunsey is a lovely little hamlet and is near the quaint village of Far Sawrey which has a popular pub for enjoying some food and drink. The neighbouring village, Near Sawrey, is home to Hill Top, the National Trust-managed former home of Beatrix Potter, a must-visit for anyone who enjoyed her books as a child. The larger village of Hawkshead is only a short drive away (4 miles) and has several National Trust properties, including the historic Grammar School, where William Wordsworth was once a pupil. The village also offers a choice of pubs, cafes, and some lovely shops.

Walking into the living area, you will instantly feel comfortable. The lounge offers a perfect spot to chill and relax after a day out, with the two-seater sofa  and two armchairs ideally positioned for you to settle down after a day of exploring in front of the Smart TV and wood burner (first basket of logs provided). The kitchen/diner has all you need to rustle up a meal with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge/freezer along with an oak dining table and chairs. Head on up to the first floor and you are in the spacious master bedroom with a balcony that has stunning views over the lake. There is a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, handheld shower and WC. The second bedroom offers a double bed or can made into a twin with its own balcony plus another en-suite shower room with a shower and a WC.

Booked Waterbarrow House and the Barn - one allows dogs, the other doesnt. Perfect for a party where one family had a dog and one has allergies to dogs! Both cottages are lovely, in a lovely location away from the hubbub of Windermere but just a short walk to the lake itself. Each cottage is well appointed though looking a little tired. Outdoor spaRead morece is nice but tables and balconies could do with some attention. Would come back to these cottages but would bring a wok and sharper knives! Hide

Lovely cosy barn cottage part of a bigger property. Stayed for 5 nights at Christmas. Had a few concerns before we got there but did not need to worry. We had a great time and it's in a quiet area which were looking for. Having said that we found it an ideal base to venture out, so best of both worlds. In summer would be ideal for a 25 minute walk Read moreto the nearest pub. Loads of hot water good equipment comfy beds, log fire, two bathrooms. Would definitley recommend. Hide

The cottage was quite dark and didnt get much sun-light. It was very well-equipped other than very few side plates and saucepans Also be prepared to buy logs and sticks for the wood burner. No extra toiletries or tissues, just tiny soaps but good supply of loo rolls! There were no suggestions for good walks locally or where to find the nearest shopRead more and how far to the pub, which you need to book! Hide

Interior layout very good and spacious but in need of a good clean. Welcome pack excellent. Exterior sitting areas extremely grubby & neglected. Looks better on website than in reality. This property is overpriced and does not live up to its' rating. Not impressed!

Amazing location. Could hear a pin drop. Great for walks from the door as well. Our bed was terrible. Felt like it was going to give way and woke us each time one of us moved. Property needed a better clean. Floor in lounge (tiled) hadnt been moped and various tea stains were cleaned up by us. Kitchen was clean and of acceptable standard. The location is great. The house looks a bit unloved. The outside space is shabby and the kitchen equipment is a bit lacking - only 2 saucepans one huge and one tiny. The freezer was very icy and mostly unusable. Its not the best of all the Sallys cottages we have stayed at but we had a great time. Lovely barn in a beautiful location. Barn stayed cool despite 31c temperature. Short walk to Windermere shore. Beautiful walk to National Trust Hilltop. Short distance to car ferry over to Bowness. Please note there is no house sign up, but the property is behind the large attached house called Water Barrow. Parking is on the gravel drive.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Barn at Waterbarrow. The whole place is really lovely with good quality furnishings and plenty of space. The gardens are very nice and there is plenty of space on the drive for several cars. The location is quite remote, but this is what we wanted. The kitchen was good (excellent ovens, large fridge), and the Read moreshower in one of the bathrooms was out of this world. I would absolutely stay again! Hide

Location of Waterbarrow Barn is perfect for those wanting a quieter break. 20 mins walk to nearest pub, excellent food and service, 20 mins to Bowness ferry, 5 mins to the Lake with stunning walks. Gardens are steep, lots of paths but limited views. Cottage, spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture. Feels dark downstaiRead morers and outside space needs updating, cleaning and furniture is rusty, so barely useable. Just changed hands so hopefully these will be improved. Hide
