Ambleside is 6 miles away, where you can hire a boat, enjoy a cruise on the lake or take any number of walks, from gentle strolls to challenging hikes; the walk at Rydal Mount and Loughrigg is ideal for all abilities. Hikers and cyclists will love the forest paths and bike trails at Grizedale Forest (3 miles), where you can look out for the forest sculptures and try the Go Ape courses among the trees if you feel brave.
