Well-positioned cottage with warming sunroom and two gardens. Close to the quiet coastline and the Lake District National Park. Perfect base to explore fells and coast.
Sitting just 3 miles from the western edge of the Lake District National Park, this welcoming cottage offers Cumbria country living at its best. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, it’s the ideal accommodation option for families and groups of friends who want to spend their days roaming the beach at St Bees or paddling the lake at Wastwater. Host dinner in the formal dining room before sipping wine on the patio as the stars come out.
Step inside and kick off your walking shoes in the hallway – there’s plenty of storage space. Make yourself at home in the bright and spacious lounge and then head to the kitchen to rustle up some dinner for your loved ones. Get everyone together to eat in the formal dining room, before opening up the patio doors and heading outside to enjoy a nightcap in the garden. Later in the evening, catch up on all the gossip by the electric fire in the lounge before heading to bed. You’ll find one lovely bedroom on the ground floor and two more on the first floor. After a good night’s rest, slip into a chair in the sunroom and enjoy your morning coffee.
Pack up a picnic and head to Dalegarth Station (13.5 miles) to do the 3-mile loop hike up to the impressive waterfall of Stanley Force. Along the way, you’ll enjoy wandering through woodlands and criss-crossing the River Esk. Alternatively, make a beeline for Boot (15 miles), where you can hire a stand-up paddleboard and go for an adventure on Wastwater. Or head to Muncaster (10.5 miles) to explore the castle and meet the residents at the Hawk and Owl Centre.
