Newly renovated cottage with two lounge areas set near the Cumbrian coast with beaches only a short distance away to the west and the Lake District National Park to the east.
Set on the edge of the Lake District near the market town of Egremont, this wonderful cottage is surrounded by natural beauty and offers views of the sea. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, it’s the ideal country escape for small families or groups of friends who want to spend their days hiking at Cold Fell or walking the coastal path at Fleswick Bay. Relax in the evening with a BBQ on the property’s patio or catch up with your loved ones by the wood burner.
Step inside and you’ll notice the thoughtful way in which the owners have showcased the cottage’s original features without compromising on comfort. Make yourself at home and then head to the open-plan kitchen/diner to rustle up some dinner. Everyone can dine together around the farmhouse-style dining table. Alternatively, make your way out onto the patio, fire up the BBQ and enjoy an al fresco dinner with a view. After dinner, curl up on a sofa by the wood burner in the lounge, and if you have the kids with you, point them in the direction of the snug upstairs, where they can enjoy having their own space. When it’s time for bed, you’ll find a master bedroom on the first floor and a second bedroom set over two levels up on the second floor.
Head into Egremont to stroll around the 12th-century castle, browse the art galleries and treat yourself to some pub grub. Alternatively, make your way to St Bees (4.5 miles) to explore the mile-long beach, or visit the black guillemot at St Bees Head RSPB Reserve (8 miles). Or learn all about piracy on the high seas at Whitehaven’s excellent Rum Story museum (6.5 miles).
