The nearest lakes are Loweswater, Crummock Water, Buttermere and Ennerdale Water (all within 12 miles). Keswick (20 miles) sits at the head of Derwentwater and is home to the Theatre by the Lake, the Derwent Pencil Museum and the Castlerigg Stone Circle.
