Out and about, head to Surprise View (7 miles) and walk up to the viewpoint, which offers impressive views of Derwent Water. If you prefer water sports, then Bassenthwaite (3 miles) or Derwentwater (2 miles) are perfect for kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding. History buffs will love a trip to the atmospheric, Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circles (7 miles) with panoramic views of Helvellyn and High Seat mountains as a backdrop.
