Romantic annexe in a picturesque location with all you need on your doorstep, including walks and pubs, and many more exciting attractions nearby.
For a solo, friends’ or couples’ trip on Cumbria’s south coast, stay at this sweet one-bed property in the picturesque village of Flookburgh. You’ll have a pub within 300 metres, the beach 1 mile away and excellent walking opportunities nearby, such as the Sandgate to Chapel Island Bay Walk (0.5 miles) which you can enjoy with the help of a local guide. This one-bed dwelling is an annexe of the owners’ home, with a private patio along with a shared garden available to enjoy during your stay.
The space is lovely and roomy (large enough for a morning yoga session, should you so fancy it), with a large open-plan living area comprising a kitchen, lounge and two spots for eating – a dining table and a breakfast bar. It feels cheerful and welcoming thanks to the bright walls. Bi-fold doors leading out to the private patio allow plenty of light in. Head up the stairs to the super-king-size bedroom (convertible to twins on request), a lovely room complemented by skylights that frame views towards the sea. An additional sofa is on hand for coffee first thing, while a second TV sets you up for late-night film viewings.
You’ll be 2.5 miles from the village of Cartmel, known for its pretty scenery, cobbled streets, historic buildings and ancient priory. Take a streamside walk then pop into one of many eateries for a hot beverage, snack or meal. Grange-over-Sands (3.5 miles) is an elegant town with strong reminders of its Victorian- and Edwardian-era heyday. Or head to Holker Hall and Gardens (1 mile) – on its beautiful grounds, you’re welcome to unpack a picnic amid the gorgeous woodlands and beautifully preened lawns.
