The cottage has been restored with lots of original features, and offers the perfect romantic retreat and base to explore The Lakes and coast.
Enjoy a break at this delightful cottage in Eaglesfield, 3 miles from Cockermouth, in Cumbria. Set approximately 1 mile from the fringes of the Lake District, this gorgeous abode could be ideal for a small family or group of friends eager to enjoy the magnificent national park. Sleeping four guests and a dog, the two-bedroom holiday home has a wood burner for cosy nights in and an exquisite cottage garden where you can unwind over a chilled glass of wine on summer days.
Step inside, via the porch, to find character-filled yet comfortable accommodation. Pop the kettle on in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner then make a cup of tea to enjoy with the Lakeland gingerbread you have bought on a trip out. Prepare delicious meals for your party in the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner area; you also have a handy washer/dryer for whizzing through any walking clothes. Dine at the table together, then take a step up to spread out into the lounge. Light the wood burner in here and find a film to watch on the Smart TV. Climb the steep, narrow, cottage-style staircase up to the first floor, taking care as you go because the ceilings are low. When night falls, you have two beautiful, double bedrooms to choose from. The family bathroom, with a roll-top bath, is also up here. In the morning, wander out into the sunshine and take a few steps up to enjoy the private garden, which is just across from the cottage. You have parking for one small car, with additional space on the road, subject to availability.
Head into Cockermouth to potter around the shops, dine out, and visit Wordsworth House and Gardens. Drive 11 miles to reach the shores of beautiful Buttermere and wander a 4.5-mile circuit of the lake which takes in some fabulous Lakeland vistas.
