This is an impressive Victorian mid-terrace house, enjoying an elevated position close to Bassenthwaite Lake. The spacious accommodation is laid out over the ground and first floors (the second floor bedrooms aren't available for guests to use). The lovely living room has a large bay window, an open fire and double doors that lead through to the dining room. At the rear of the house is the well-equipped kitchen and a useful utility room, also on the ground floor you will find a handy WC. Up the stairs on the half landing you'll find the family bathroom and an additional wet room before reaching the three bedrooms - a super-king (this room can also be made up as a twin upon request), a twin and a single - on the first floor. At the rear of the cottage is a pretty garden and there's also parking for two cars off the road in front of the cottage.
There are lots of great walking opportunities close by. Walk from the door down to Bassenthwaite Lake, or Setmurthy Woods are a popular choice with both walker and mountain bikers. Why not bring your bikes with you and head out to explore on two wheels? Enjoy a peaceful riverside walk at Isel or head up popular Sale Fell, a short but fairly steep climb, though the views from the top are certainly worth the effort! You'll be ready for some refreshment after all that exercise and the popular inn is a short walk across the A66 from the cottage, and even closer is Bassenthwaite Lake Station cafe and restaurant featuring the carriages from the film set of Murder on the Orient Express.
Keswick is just a 15-minute drive from the cottage. With a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, you can indulge in some retail therapy. Treat yourself to an evening out and take in a show at the renowned Theatre by the Lake or watch a film at the family-run Alhambra cinema. The Georgian market town of Cockermouth is also within easy reach. Visit the childhood home of William Wordsworth or take a tour of the Jennings Brewery. Why not continue west to the picturesque Solway Coast? Perfect for a day by the sea.
A spacious hallway leads you inside this fantastic house. On your right is the lovely living room. Choose a seat in the large bay window, the perfect spot for catching up with a good book or simply admiring the wonderful views out over the surrounding countryside. There's a fantastic open fire and a TV for entertainment too, ideal for cosy evenings in. Double doors lead through to the dining room, another great spacious room with high ceilings and a lovely outlook towards the rear garden and Binsey beyond . The modern kitchen has an electric oven and separate electric hob, fridge and a useful dishwasher. The breakfast bar is ideal for enjoying a peaceful breakfast whilst planning your day's adventures.
A handy utility room houses the freezer as well as the washing machine and tumble dryer, should you wish to make use of these during your stay.
At the top of the stairs on the half landing are the two bathrooms. The wet room features a modern shower along with the WC, while the spacious family bathroom has a WC, wash basin, large shower cubicle and separate bath. All tastes are catered for here, whether you prefer a relaxing soak in the tub or a refreshing shower after a day out exploring!
Up a couple more stairs to the right and you'll find the three lovely bedrooms. The spacious super-king room is at the front of the cottage and has wonderful views over Sale Fell and the surrounding countryside. This room has plenty of storage thanks to the original built-in cupboard with useful clothes hooks, and a dressing table. The super-king bedroom can also be made up as a twin upon request. The twin bedroom enjoys a delightful outlook over the rear garden towards Binsey, and again has a built-in cupboard with clothes hooks, and a dressing table for further storage. Last but not least is the cosy single room, which also has views over the front of the cottage to the countryside and fells beyond.
The bedrooms on the second floor aren't available for guests but this does mean that the house is wonderfully spacious for a party of five.
Outside of the cottage is a delightful rear garden. With a lawn and patio area with outdoor furniture, it's a lovely spot to relax and unwind after a day out exploring. The enclosed rear yard is ideal for dogs.
At the front of the cottage there is off-road parking for two cars.
