This is a lovely detached cottage for six to eight people and two lucky dogs. Inside you'll find a well equipped kitchen/diner with underfloor heating, a spacious living room with wood burner and modern shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor is the family bathroom and three bedrooms; there are two king-size bedrooms and a bunk room which contains two sets of bunk beds. Outside, the cottage has parking for two cars as well as a delightful lawned garden and patios at the front and back, a real bonus in Portinscale.
The charming village of Portinscale is a popular choice for a holiday and rightly so! The village has a delightful cafe and a friendly local pub, both just a five-minute stroll from the cottage. With Derwentwater within easy reach, Portinscale is ideally placed for spending a day at, in or on the water: enjoy a lakeside picnic, go wild swimming, hire a canoe or take a ride on the popular launch and let someone else do the hard work. For a bird's eye view of the lake, hike up Catbells, whilst a 20 minute walk from Manor Cottage takes you through woods to The Lingholm Kitchen and walled Garden; a beautiful estate where Beatrix Potter set some of her best loved books, which has a lovely cafe and is a perfect pitstop while you're out and about.
Walk, cycle or drive into Keswick, less than 1 mile away. Known as the adventure capital of the Northern Lakes, why not sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies? Try raft building, ghyll scrambling, paddle boarding - or tackle the Via Ferrata at nearby Honister Slate Mine, for the brave only! Explore the picturesque Newlands Valley before taking a scenic drive over Newlands Pass down into Buttermere for a peaceful lakeside picnic or walk the Buttermere fells with Haystacks at the southern end – Wainwright’s favourite fell.
Inside the cottage, the modern kitchen/diner is a great space, ideal for sociable mealtimes. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster, as well as a useful dishwasher and washer/dryer. The living room is spacious but still homely and cosy thanks to the wooden beams and wood burner. The sofas are perfectly positioned around the wood burner and there is a TV for entertainment in here too.
Also on the ground floor is a handy shower room. With WC, wash basin and modern shower cubicle, it's great for reinvigorating muscles tired from long days out on the fell tops.
Take the stairs up from the living room to the first floor where you'll find the three lovely bedrooms and family bathroom. All three of the bedrooms are light, bright and airy. There are two king-size rooms and a bunk room which contains two sets of bunk beds. The master king-size room is spacious and has a handy wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage, as well as a cute dressing table and stool. The second king-size room is just as lovely as the is first, with delightful views over the surrounding tree tops. The bunk room contains two sets of painted wooden bunk beds making the room ideal for up to four children (the beds in this room are adult size bunks and would be cosy with four adults).
The family bathroom has a WC, wash basin, shower cubicle and separate spa bath so all tastes are catered for, whether you prefer a refreshing shower or a long soak in the tub.
Outside the cottage there is private, off-road parking for two cars, a real bonus for the location. There are patios at the front and back to catch the morning and evening sun and a delightful enclosed lawned garden. With outdoor furniture, chiminea and BBQ, it's a lovely spot for enjoying a peaceful morning cuppa or an evening aperitif whilst you relax and unwind after a day out exploring.
