Yew Trees also has private off-road parking for one car and a lovely patio garden; both a real bonus so close to the centre of Windermere.
Located a short, pleasant walk from bustling Windermere Village and Bowness, you really have so much on your doorstep at this home from home. Leave the car where it is and head out on foot to explore. Indulge in some retail therapy, or treat yourselves to an evening out with cocktails and a delicious meal in one of local bars and restaurants. Lake Windermere is just over a mile's walk away; pack a picnic and enjoy a stroll along the lake shore, hire a boat, or hitch a ride on the launch for a majestic cruise round the lake. Neighbouring Bowness is a 10-minute walk away and offers an array of shops and eateries, as well as museums and lots of great walking opportunities. The cottage is surrounded by stunning scenery and the golf course is also a short walk away.
Why not catch the ferry across the water to Hawkshead, another charming Lakeland village, where you can visit the former home of Beatrix Potter at Hilltop, before stocking up on the village's delicious relish? There are plenty of fantastic walks on offer nearby. Take in the stunning vistas from Claife Viewing Station before following the path along the western shore of the lake. Spend a day exploring the magnificent Langdale Valley? With its rugged mountains and peaceful tarns, it's a must for any avid fell walker.
The kitchen/diner is a fantastic social space. Well equipped with an electric built-in oven and separate hob, handy microwave and large fridge-freezer, it’s sure to be a hit with the cooks in the group. Gather round the dining table, perfect for catching up on the day’s events over a delicious home cooked meal, or spread out your maps and guidebooks and plan tomorrow’s.
Off the kitchen is a large boot room with a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as with radiators, it’s a very useful addition and perfect for drying wet coats and boots. The 'rainy day cupboard' in here has a great selection of games, DVDs and books should you wish to make use of those during your stay.
The wonderfully spacious living room is light, bright and airy thanks to the large windows here. The two stylish sofas are positioned around the open fire, perfect for cosy evenings in. There’s a TV and an upright piano if you’d prefer to create your own entertainment!
Continue onwards and you’ll find the two lovely bedrooms and two bathrooms. The large master bedroom has a lovely metal-framed king-size bed, perfect for indulging in a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! There’s also a gorgeous vintage desk for those all important postcards. The king- size bedroom has its own en-suite shower room, complete with WC, washbasin and modern shower cubicle. The second bedroom is just as lovely as the first. Another bright and spacious room in here you’ll find two single beds and there’s also a handy chest of drawers for storage. The family bathroom has a WC, washbasin and a bath with shower over so all tastes are catered for here.
There is a gentle slope from the parking space to the cottage and two wide steps into the property. The property is positioned on a slope, so please note the outside seating area is slightly tiered, one step down to the table area. The cottage is on one level with the exception of the large boot room, please note there is a deep step down into the boot room from the kitchen and the useful backdoor enters the property through the boot room.
As well as all this, there is also private off-road parking for one car - a fantastic bonus so close to the centre of Windermere. To the front of the cottage is a delightful patio garden. A real sun trap with a picnic table, it’s a lovely spot equally suited to a peaceful morning coffee or an evening aperitif after a day out exploring.
