A trip to Keswick Museum and Art Gallery is a must for anyone with an interest in local history, or head to the famous Pencil Museum, sure to be a hit with the whole family.
Why not leave the car and head out to explore on foot? There are plenty of walks to suit everyone nearby. Head up local fell Latrigg, the bench near the summit offers a perfect place to rest and take in the stunning views. Serious hikers can continue onwards and upwards from here up Skiddaw, England’s fourth highest mountain. Pack a picnic and enjoy the scenic 10 mile circular route around beautiful Derwentwater. If you’d prefer to be closer to the water, why not hire a rowing boat, try paddle boarding with one of the local adventure companies or hitch a ride on the launch and let someone else do the hard work for you!
Enjoying a fantastic position, just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Keswick is this beautiful cottage, an impressive three-storey Lakeland stone-fronted cottage. Head inside and you’ll find spacious accommodation for up to six people.
The bright entrance hall leads you through to the wonderful living-dining room. Bright and airy thanks to its large dual aspect windows, this is a fantastic social space. The living area has a choice of a three-seater sofa, two-seater sofa and inviting armchair, all ideally positioned around the living flame gas fire, perfect for cosy evenings in. There’s also a TV or simply catch up with a good book. The wooden dining table is the ideal spot for comparing notes on the day’s events over a delicious home-cooked meal, or spread out your maps and guide books and plan tomorrow’s.
Continue through to the well equipped kitchen at the back of the cottage. The cooks in the group are sure to love using the electric range-style cooker with its ceramic hobs. There’s also a fridge-freezer, microwave and even a dishwasher so there’ll be no need to fight over who has to do the washing up! A handy utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, should you wish to make use of these during your stay. There’s also a useful WC and washbasin in here too.
Head back out into the hallway and up the stairs to the first floor, where you’ll find three of the four bedrooms. First up we have the master bedroom, which has a fantastic feature antique wooden king-size bed and a TV that make this space perfect for indulging in a long lie in – you are on holiday after all! The large window to the front means this spacious room is lovely and light; there’s also a useful chest of drawers for storage. Next up is the bright double room which overlooks the rear yard. A wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and TV complete this bedroom. The final bedroom on this floor is the cosy single room with it's own TV.
Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. With WC, washbasin, bath and separate shower cubicle all tastes are catered for, whether you prefer a long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower.
Onwards and upwards to the second floor and the fourth and final bedroom, a twin which also has it's own TV. This is another lovely, bright room with views from its dormer window over the rooftops to the fells beyond. The adjoining shower room up here has a WC, washbasin and modern shower cubicle, perfect for reinvigorating tired muscles after a day out on the fells.
Outside the cottage has a delightful enclosed rear yard. With outdoor furniture, it’s a lovely spot for al fresco dining or for that peaceful morning cuppa before everyone else is up. Also out here is a useful storeroom, ideal for storing bikes if you like to get out and about on two wheels.
Allocated parking is provided for one vehicle in the car park opposite the property, which also has electric car charging points. For additional cars there is plenty of on street parking close by.
