The village also has a great selection of shops and lots of different eateries to try out and there are some fantastic walking opportunities on offer from the door too. Walk up to Orrest Head Viewpoint and admire the view or take on a section of The Dales Way footpath.
Why not head north to Keswick, the adventure capital of the North Lakes? Sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies - try ghyll scrambling, canyoning or raft building on beautiful Derwentwater. The magnificent Langdale Valley is certainly worth a visit. With its rugged mountains and peaceful tarns, it's a must for any avid fell walker. Head up Lingmoor Fell for stunning, panoramic views of the lakes. Stop off at one of the traditional pubs on your way back for a hearty meal and refreshing drink.
