This is a charming cottage, enjoying an elevated position on the edge of the popular village of Glenridding. Recently refurbished throughout to a high standard, the cottage now provides welcoming accommodation for up to five people. The fantastic dining kitchen and living room, complete with wood burner and stunning mountain views, are on the ground floor. On the first floor you’ll find two of the three bedrooms, a lovely double and a cute single, along with the family shower room, whilst the third and final bedroom is up on the second floor. Outside there is parking for one to two cars and the cottage also has a delightful garden with more of those outstanding views.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery, there’s so much to explore straight from the door; you could even leave the car where it is and set out on foot each day on a different route. With views towards the mighty Helvellyn range, it’s a must for any avid fell walker. There are a variety of routes up to the summit to choose from, including the famous Striding Edge, for the well equipped only. If you don't fancy a day in the hills, walk along the shores of beautiful Ullswater to the magnificent Aira Force Waterfall. Beyond the cottage, Greenside Mine offers an intriguing glimpse into the area’s industrial heritage.
Glenridding has a friendly pub that's just a five-minute walk from the cottage. Or walk down to the village where you’ll find the bar in the Glenridding Hotel and another bar at the Inn on the Lake, where you can also treat yourselves to a delicious afternoon tea.
Why not catch the popular 'steamer' and head across the water to bustling Pooley Bridge? Enjoy fresh coffee and homemade cake in the riverside café before walking to Howtown and on to Martindale, a beautiful remote valley. Plan a visit to historic Dalemain, a magnificent country house, or spend a day in the popular market town of Keswick, less than a 30-minute drive away; indulge in some retail therapy, visit the famous Pencil Museum or enjoy an evening out at the renowned Theatre by the Lake.
Sitting in an elevated position on the edge of the popular village of Glenridding, this is a wonderful cottage for up to five people. A lovely base from which to explore the surrounding area, this is a real gem of a cottage surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District. After a short climb up the access track – not suitable for motor vehicles – step inside and you’re sure to feel right at home.
At the rear of the cottage, you’ll find the fantastic kitchen/diner, well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, useful washing machine and even a dishwasher – though you might not mind washing up by hand thanks to the view from the kitchen sink up Glenridding Dodd! At the front of the cottage is the lovely living room. Spacious, light and airy, there are stunning views from the windows towards the magnificent Hellvellyn mountain range. The armchair and four-seater sofa are positioned around the wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings in, and there’s also a wall mounted TV in here for entertainment.
Up the stairs to the first floor and two of the three bedrooms. First up, we have the spacious master bedroom and this is most definitely a room with a view! A delightful double room with a stunning outlook towards Helvellyn, bring your morning cuppa back to bed and indulge in a long lie in – the bed is perfectly positioned to make the most of the beautiful views so it would be rude not to! There’s also a charming window seat and the handy wardrobe is great for storage. The cosy single room is just as lovely but this time the views are to the rear of the cottage, up the steep slopes of Glenridding Dodd where native Herdwick sheep can often be seen grazing.
Also on the first floor is the family shower room. With a WC, wash basin and modern shower cubicle, ideal for a refreshing shower after a day out on the fell tops.
Onwards and upwards to the second floor and the third bedroom, a lovely double. As you’d expect from a converted attic, the space up here is quirky but charming. Behind the bed is a useful shelf and there’s also a chest of drawers for storage too. The inviting chill-out area up here is the perfect place to escape to and relax with a good book. A futon-style mattress is available for children under ten years and allows the room to be used as a twin for children.
Outside, to the front of the cottage is a delightful sloping garden. With far-ranging views of the fells, the garden bench is a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine.
