Inside this characterful cottage, you'll find a cosy living/dining room with a wood burner and a well equipped kitchen. The two bedrooms, a king and single, are upstairs on the first floor along with the modern shower room. At the rear of the cottage is a delightful enclosed rear garden with a pond and outdoor furniture, perfect for dining alfresco.
Kirkby Stephen is a quaint market town in the beautiful Eden Valley; with local independent shops and cafes, it's a lovely base for a holiday. Enjoy an evening out at one of the town's pubs, or try one of the local restaurants for a delicious meal. The town also has a railway station which is on the famous Settle-Carlisle line, a picturesque route through some of the most stunning countryside. Kirkby Stephen is on the Coast to Coast and plenty of other walking and cycling routes also pass through the town.
Kirkby Stephen is well known as a walkers are welcome town and there are fantastic walking opportunities on offer here. There are plenty of local footpaths to explore, from riverside rambles to peaceful woodland strolls, where you might be lucky enough to spot some of the resident red squirrels. Visit the nature reserve at Smardale Gill, follow the path along the impressive viaduct whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the wide variety of of birds and insects who also like to visit too. Head to the neighbouring village of Ravenstonedale for a walk in beautiful surroundings, with three pubs popular with foodies, it's a great place to stop off for refreshments too. Lace up your walking boots and spend a day exploring the magnificent Howgills where you can walk for miles along the fell tops whist enjoying some stunning views.
Head inside and you're sure to feel right at home. At the front of the cottage is the living/dining room. A space-saving dropleaf dining table and chairs mean you can easily set up a spot to enjoy your meal before tucking them away again. Relax on the two-seater sofa or armchair, ideally positioned in front of the wood burner in its feature exposed brick fireplace, perfect for cosy evenings in in front of the fire. There's also a TV with DVD player for entertainment, as well as a CD player and DAB radio.
Continue through to the country-style kitchen. Compact but well equipped, it has an electric oven and gas hob, handy microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and useful washing machine.
Upstairs on the first floor are the two lovely bedrooms. The master bedroom has a feature solid wood king-size bed, ideal for indulging in a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! The single bedroom is cosy and has a quaint window seat which overlooks the rear garden.
Also on the first floor is the modern shower room. With a WC, wash basin and shower cubicle, it's great for a refreshing tired muscles after a day out exploring.
Outside to the rear of the cottage is a delightful enclosed patio garden and small pond (the pond is unfenced so extra care will need to be taken here). With outdoor furniture, it's a lovely spot for dining alfresco. There's also a stone hut that can be used for storing bikes, ideal if you like to get out and about on two wheels.
On-street parking is available close by, just a short walk from the cottage.
