Eskdale Green is a charming hamlet in the beautiful Eskdale Valley, a tranquil area that’s a haven for walkers. Walk from the door through the delightfully named Giggle Alley Wood to find a hidden Japanese garden and head to St Begas church in Eskdale Green to learn all about the history of the local area. Visit the Stanley Ghyll Force waterfall, a beautiful spot for a picnic lunch, before enjoying a ride on the famous La’al Ratty, the Eskdale and Ravenglass steam railway. Ravenglass is a beautiful Roman port on the coast, and Drigg beach is also nearby if you want sand and sea!
There are plenty of opportunities for longer days out on the fell tops too. Serious hikers can tackle Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, or head up Muncaster Fell for stunning views of the valley. Visit remote Devoke Water or head to the neighbouring valley of Wasdale for a walk by Wastwater, the deepest of all The Lakes. You’ll be in need of some refreshments after all that exercise! There are a great selection of traditional pubs in Eskdale to enjoy a refreshing drink and a hearty meal after a day out exploring.
An entrance hallway leads through to the living room. A spacious bright room with a feature bay window, making the most of those stunning views of the surrounding fells. Relax on the sofa or armchairs positioned around the wood burning stove housed in the original marble fireplace, perfect for cosy evenings in. There’s a TV for entertainment with Sky and Sky Sports or take a seat in the bay window and catch up with a good book - if you can tear your eyes away from the wonderful view that is!
The modern kitchen/diner is great for sociable mealtimes and is well equipped with all the essentials for a self catering holiday. In here you’ll find an electric oven and hobs, fridge-freezer, handy microwave and a useful washing machine/drier should you need to make use of that during your stay.
Also on the ground floor is the large master bedroom. A lovely light room with a king-size bed, you’re sure to feel instantly relaxed in here so why not indulge in a long lie in? A useful cupboard with hanging space and drawers provides ample storage here. The family bathroom can be found on the ground floor too. With WC, washbasin and bath with shower over, whether you prefer soothing muscles tired from walking with a long soak in the tub or a refreshing shower all tastes are catered for.
Upstairs on the first floor is the twin room. Another spacious room with two single beds and two handy wardrobes and drawers too.
As well as private parking for two cars on the driveway, the garden is shared with the owners but there's a pleasant patio garden area for cottage guests to make use of. With outdoor furniture it’s a delightful spot for dining alfresco with a stunning backdrop.
