  • Beautiful barn conversion surrounded by stunning mountain scenery
  • Private patio plus a fabulous, shared garden with picnic benches and large lawns for children and dogs to play
  • Take on the mighty fell of Blencathra directly from your front door
Property code: SZ092

This charming cottage for four forms part of a barn conversion, enjoying an enviable position in a peaceful village surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The ground-floor accommodation is open plan, providing a spacious living/kitchen/dining area. Up on the first floor are the two bedrooms, both doubles, one with an en-suite bathroom and the other with an en-suite shower room. Outside is a shared parking area and a private patio with wooden benches and fantastic views towards Bowscale Fell.

Mosedale is ideally located for making the most of the fantastic walking opportunities in this part of the Northern Lakes. Tackle mighty Blencathra, one of the Lake District's most iconic fells. The well prepared can take on Sharp Edge but there are other routes to the top if you'd prefer to avoid the scramble. Whichever way up you choose to go, the views from the summit will be well worth the effort. Explore the fells of the Skiddaw Range or head up local hill Carrock Fell. The neighbouring village of Mungrisdale has a popular pub, perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink after a day out on the fells.

Spend a day exploring the bustling market town of Keswick. Indulge in some retail therapy, take in a show at the renowned Theatre by the Lake, or sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies. Try raft building, canoeing or ghyll scrambling, whilst the brave can take on the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine. Why not head to beautiful Ullswater, less than a 25-minute drive away? It's the perfect location for enjoying a day at, in or on the water! Enjoy a peaceful lakeside stroll, wild swim or take a cruise around the lake on one of the popular steamers.

The open-plan ground floor of this property provides spacious and sociable living accommodation full of charming character features, from wooden beams to beautiful, exposed stonework. The kitchen area is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, handy microwave and useful dishwasher. There's a lovely dining area here too, and down a few steps is the sunken living area, a cosy space just perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring. There's a Sky TV and DVD player for entertainment or simply sit and enjoy the stunning views from the full-height French windows, once the original barn doors.

Upstairs on the first floor are the two charming double bedrooms. Both rooms are spacious and have vaulted ceilings with feature wooden beams as a reminder of the building's history. The first double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with WC, washbasin and shower over the bath, and the second double room has its own en-suite shower room with WC, washbasin and shower cubicle.

The cottage has a wonderful private patio, accessed through the French doors from the living area. With wooden benches and stunning views towards Bowscale Fell, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee or an evening aperitif. Catch up with a good book out here or unwind by watching the great variety of birds that also like to pay the garden a visit. Outside there's a parking area that's shared with the other cottages on site.

The cottage, place and area was absolutely wonderful, I wouldn't change a think, we wanted peace and quiet and that's what we got, we will definitely be returning to the place again it was that good ( we don't normally return as we like to visit many places) our stay was that good.

The location of the cottage was excellent. I enjoyed the area and found the garden, orchard and access to the field ideal. The cottage was generally comfortable and well equipped. Some appliances are dated and the TV system is confusing.

Very characterful place in a wonderful setting. We loved the seating area for having our breakfast and watching the sunrise. We walked to The Mill for food and drink which I can highly recommend, its a scenic 25 minute walk away.

We had a lovely week's stay at Bowscale House. Home comforts and well equipped. It is in a lovely idyllic peaceful location, only 10 minutes from the main road and about 15-20 minutes from Keswick. We will be looking forward to a return visit!

Not a central location in the lakes but very convenient for both Penrith/M6 and Keswick. Whilst overall standards of cleanliness could be improved and there are issues with soundproofing from the adjacent studio apartment the property was overall good value for money.

The cottage is wonderful, set in a beautiful landscape. The lounge/kitchen area is open plan with the added bonus of an extra cosy area to curl up with a book. The bedrooms were spacious with plenty of storage and the en-suites in each room were great too. We would definitely go back

A lovely cosy cottage, with lovely views. We particularly enjoyed seeing the red squirrel on the bird feeder each morning. The surrounding area is great for walking and we enjoyed a couple of evening meals at The Mill in Mungrisdale, which is just a few minutes away by car.

What a lovely place to stay! Beautiful views all around, especially from the living room, really comfortable with a reading nook next to it. Lots of wildlife spotted right outside! If you're looking for space and rest this is the spot. The Mill Inn is just down the road for a delicious meal, and it's quite accessible to main Lakes routes. Spacious Read morerooms and bathrooms. The accessible courtyard bedroom is very well done with walk-in shower and handholds everywhere. We'll definitely book again. Hide

Great little holiday cottage and in a wonderful peaceful location.
