For those who'd prefer to indulge in a bit of retail therapy, head to the Georgian market town of Cockermouth with its numerous independent shops, three supermarkets and the National Trust-owned ancestral home of William Wordsworth, or bustling Keswick for a great selection of outdoor and independent shops. We loved our stay at Castlegate House! Its the most well-equipped and comfortable property weve ever stayed in. The attention to detail is superb, with high quality furnishings and equipment throughout. We enjoyed exploring this quiet corner of Cumbria, returning to relax in the garden and hot tub. Highly recommended!

This is a very well maintained and appointed holiday cottage. We have stayed in many over the years and few can compare overall. Hayton is a quite little village with very little going on, but a lovely retreat if you just want to get away from it all for a while. Allonby is an attractive little seaside town, which is walkable, whilst Maryport and SRead moreilloth, slightly further afield offer a little more amenity and both have fascinating, if quite different, seaside histories. This is by far the best holiday home we have been in, and we have been in a few. The house was fabulous, wanting for nothing and very clean. In our party we had a family of five adults and our German shepherd dog. The garden was excellent for the dog and for games in the garden.
