Walkers will rejoice at the choice of routes on offer, from woodland walks and lakeside strolls to high fells, there's something to suit everyone here. Take a walk along country roads down to Wastwater, England's deepest lake, or explore the woods around nearby Nether Wasdale. You can tick off some of the area's most popular fells during your stay including Yewbarrow, Pillar, Buckbarrow and the mighty Great Gable. The well prepared can also tackle Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. You'll be in need of some refreshments after all that exercise. Just 2.5 miles away in the hamlet of Nether Wasdale are two popular pubs, perfect for a real ale and a hearty meal after a long day out exploring.
Why not spend a day exploring the neighbouring valley of Eskdale? Take a ride on La'al Ratty, the much loved Ravenglass to Eskdale steam railway, and admire the views of the estuary and fells from a different perspective. Plan a visit to Muncaster Castle at Ravenglass; tour the historic house, explore the 77 acres of gardens or take in one of the amazing bird of prey flying displays. Enjoy a walk at remote Devoke Water or head to the South Cumbrian coast. Enjoy a bracing stroll along the beach, taking in the wide open vistas as you go.

Gather round the dining table and catch up on the day's events over a hearty home cooked meal before moving to relax on the sofas. There's a large TV for entertainment and a selection of books.
Also on the ground floor is a cosy snug, the perfect place to escape to with a good book. A bright sun room makes the most of the fabulous views and completes the downstairs.
